Haven't posted here in a while, been quite busy looking for a house and doing my dayjob, family life etc. Still I'm enjoying the abstract type of painting I've been doing lately although it's sometimes frustrating not to have a workroom, painting in the livingroom with actual paint I have to restrain myself a bit. I had a real bummer last summer: finally had an exhibition after some 8 years in Amsterdam where I'm from. Well a group exhibition anyway, and I didn't sell a single painting!! It made me a bit insecure about my new direction since I used to sell quite well in this gallery. Still I do what I do and just keep on doing it. The other day I went and asked maybe a hundred different shops to put my new exhibitionposter in their window to get some exposure for the new exhibition I have in a library where I work parttime. I hope it makes a difference. All the work is gouache on canvas or on cardboard. Anyway, here's the work:

I really like them. I like how you've used abstract forms to describe cool enviroments like in the last three.

Awesome work, I love the organic, bone/muscle look alot of them have. Reminds me somewhat of Wayne Barlowe's work...which I may have said before. The pieces where you've integrated them into an environment are nice, but I think it takes away some of the mystery around them. Part of what I like about the first batch is that when I see it my mind sees tons of different things in them. They're inspiring. When you put them in an obvious landscape or put a person next to it or something the possiblities collapse. This isn't an entirely bad thing, as this IS a concept art and design forum which relies on artworking being of a specific thing. That's kind of the hook of production centered artwork, mystery has to be removed so someone can actually build it. Thats the advantage that "fine" art has over illustration and production art, it can be its own thing. I think the first batch feel like "fine" art, or something I would see in a gallery while the others feel like production paintings for a movie on a fungal planet or something....both cool, I just think the first have more to offer the viewer as an experience.

Real nice images you got here. Sorry to hear you haven't sold much. I to am in the same boat. Juggling all the responsibilities of family, and work and modern society. It seems impossible sometimes to find time for my first true love, art. I think you have some good stuff here though. Keep at it man! Best of luck!

Hey!
I saw your paintings and I just had to visit your hp to see all your stuff, and I really really love it! Unbelieavable you didn't sell one of this beautiful images on this exibition. If I had the money I would buy them all! Instead of this I say "keep on working that way your stuff is very good and I love it!"
Good luck!

This is like a tonic, a refuelling for me. So nice to hear all this supportive comments from you guys. I know a lot of you are in the same boat and it feels sometimes like life is challenging you. But quitting isn't an option because IT doesn't seem to quit me.
Cthogua: I know exactly what you mean. When I turned to more abstract painting it really felt like I was on to something, stuff coming out that I never saw before. But sometimes my head, my ego, likes to direct it a certain way, put it in a particular shape. Why? I don't know. I do know that those landscape abstractions always come out with much more struggle than the non-landscape ones, Which should be a sign that I've turned a wrong corner since concept art isn't really my thing (whoah, blasphemy!!!). Anyway, thank you for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it.
