this thread is designed to promote the sharing of inspirational videos about artists speaking on their craft. i personally find the act of seeing artists lecture about their own work in their own words an invaluable resource of motivation. maybe if this catches on it can be the go-to place for people in need of some sound advice from expects in the arts and can eventually cut back on the sadfaced 'i have artist block' threads.

so i'll start off with a few videos by Hillman Curtis:

Milton Glaser

Stefan Stagmeister
KD_Vu_YzEPI

Paula Scher
TdzzVeIdwpQ

feel free to add to the fun.

These are a great find. Interesting to here people's processes and what still excites them about their art.

Thanks for posting them Grief.

That was cool, but I think to have Giger talked in English wasn't a very good idea. It doesn't make him look so mysterious after all. :(

Look for Joe Bluhm's vids in youtube. Unlike other artist's videos his aren't sped up.

Indeed, I love watching them! I wish there were more videos like that with other comic artists. He would probably make a good art teacher as well.

an old thread i sadly forgot about.

here's our friend Scott McCloud speaking in haste about the ideas of his books Understanding Comics and Reinventing Comics

i greatly admire his clarity and articulate ideas about the visual medium.

Its not a video but its a radio interview with Marshall Vandruff by Fanboy Radio and has a lot of great information. Its good to listen while you draw or something.
