last night i had problems making new paper textures and i had to force quit painter. the next time i tried opening the program, as it was loading it said "cant open file painter papers.papers" and crashed. It does this every time I try openeing the program. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it does the same thing. I even tried deleting the paper file and then copying the file from a friend but it does the same thing. I checked the forum and read some threads about other people having trouble with papers but i didnt see anything about the program continually crashing. do i need to do a system restore on my computer? I NEED this program for school.

Hold down the shift key and reboot Painter. This clears your user files with a new factory default version. If you can, save any of your other customised files first in a new directory and later you can copy and paste them back into your user directory.

If your Papers library file becomes corrupted again, don't get a replacement file from a friend.
Go to the following location in your Painter X application/program folder and copy the default Painter X Papers library:
Painter X > Resources > Painter Papers.papers
Now go to the following location in your Painter X User folder and paste the copied Painter Papers.papers file into the appropriate Workspace folder for whichever Workspace you were using in the last Painter session:
Mac - Users > [User Name] > Library > Application Support > Corel > Painter X > [Workspace Name]
Windows - Documents and Settings > [User Name] > Application Data > Corel > Painter X > [Workspace Name]
.
