Come on guys. Share the Love. Doesn't have to be a band. Any music group is allowed.

Maybe we can all better our song collections after this thread, and find some amazing music that usually can't reach our ears because of the popular media.

And my favourite band is:

Wolfmother

:wtf:

Why? I've had some good memories with those songs, and some of my best times were with those songs. And If you've heard joker and the thief and woman, No, those aren't my favourites. It's the rest of the stuff the album that I like, and all the stuff they do in concerts.

Massive Attack, M.I.A., Gorillaz, DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, Future Cut, SINTHETIX, Sasha, Nine Inch Nails, and I forgot the rest. I'll be back later.

It's WAY easier to chose a least favorite band!
There have been threads like this in the past but still I'll contribute.
I don't have one. My favorites include TOOL, Opeth, Alice in Chains, Dethklok (they're animated but they kick ass!), Amon Amarth, The Sword, Pantera (RIP Dimebag :( ), Metallica, Lamb of God, Slayer, Black Sabbath... I could go on.

'tool' and anything with Maynard James Keenan including 'A Perfect Circle' and 'Puscifer.' Tool has been my musical constant since highschool. A cornerstone to my taste to which all things will be judged. Maynard's recent release, Puscifer was great though quite a deviation. Sort of like 'Nine Inch Nails' meets Mo-Town. Really quirky and addictive.

Friends of Dean Martinez. They're sort of a tex-mex, lounge, jazz-rock fusion, jam band. Amazing instrumentals and composition.

Nine Inch Nails. I was huge fan in highschool and it turns out that I really like their new stuff as well. Year Zero was a great album.

Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. Asside from being a huge 'Led Zeppelin' fan, these two released an album called 'No Quarter' which I consider to be a masterpiece.

Serj Tankian. Another throwback to my highschool days when I was a rabid fan of System of a Down. Tankian's solo record 'Elect the Dead' reminded me why I enjoyed them so much. It's a great album with the musical depth and complexity that I'd hesitate to describe most contemporary metal as having.

Alice in Chains. 'Man in a Box' will have a spot on any play I listen to.

Soundgarden. A great distillation of the whole nineties grunge thing which I still love.

Massive Attack. I'm normally not a huge fan of the electronic genre but I've always found them to be really fresh and have a lot of depth. Especially their album Mezzanine.

Radiohead. No brainer. I've always loved them. They have a new album out called 'In Rainbows' which lives up to their history of musical genius.

Muse. Sort of in the same vein as Radiohead. A little more on mainstream perhaps.

Jeff Buckley. A great vocalist who died before he could make critical mass. He only released one album and it was amazing.

The Mars Volta. Blatant, unapologetic "prog-rock."

Honorable mentions: Modest Mouse, Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine, Buckethead, Peter Gabriel, Arcade Fire, Brand New, Fiest, Dredg, The Flaming Lips, Peace Orchestra, Thievery Corporation, Sea Wolf, Maritime, XTC, Beck, Morphine, The Killers, Richard Buckner, Ryan Adams and I'm sure many others whom I failed to recall just now as I drink my morning coffee.

Poison the Well, by far.

Their music has helped me through many rough times.

Also much love for the Dillinger Escape Plan. Their music is freakin nuts, and I can't get enough of it.

I had a favourite band in my teens who I feel began to release sub qualify music
since then I don't hero worship bands rather look at individual albums and songs...

that said I am kind of excited by Scottish band Sons and Daughters, they sound so fresh compared to all the hip and hyped Uk bands polluting the airwaves at the moment. Hope they continue to great music.

This is so pointless...

NOT to the person who is in need of some good music.

Many people have favourite bands that are obscure no-names that only a select few listen too. The open minded dude who wants something new, (in this case, me) automatically has a list of tried and tested songs that at least a few people like, and if I don't like some of them, then I just simply pick and choose.

That is the point of this thread: to discover new bands/songs.

Oh crap, we're starting with the videos and images. Now I'm going to do what this thread (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=105014) taught me.

Hmm, favourite bands:

As N D Hill said, pretty much anything Maynard James Keenan has ever breathed upon - Tool, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer. I love APC especially, so much so my head almost starts to hurt when I listen. D:

Other notable faves would be Tears for Fears, Nightwish, October Project and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Not sure if the likes of Amethystium and Numina would count as 'bands'.

When I want to soundtrack my working day at art it's Blue Oyster Cult or Rush that I reach for first. There are others, but those two still command a good portion of my music listening.

Yeah, I'm old fashioned :)

Hard to say... since I'll always eventualy get tired of listening to the same bands music after a while.

I'd have to say that any of my short lived obsessions kinda went in this order though: U2, Offspring, Enya, Perl Jam (pretty much just the Ten album I found out), Toby Emerson, Yngwie Malmsteen (albeit a very hit or miss with me), Tom Petty, Enigma, Guster, and I'm starting to get into the Stones and Smashing Pumpkins now...
