Nice work man... just a quick question.
I've always wondered about these types of work, wa this all painted on an origional photograph, or is this all digital?
Looks great reminds me of the tower of Babal.

This one is painted onto a photograph. The original picture has a great atmosphere thats why I chose it. So alot of work was done by the photographer.

fantanstic looking structures. perspective and distance on them looks very in keeping with the photo.

Wow! Another amazing contribution to this board, very nice. It has a very ominous feel to it, very dark. I love it!

Are you a new member here? I've been seeing a few things by you (like the xena post) and I don't recognize your name. Do you have a sketchbook? I would love to see some of your sketches etc.

Very nice job

Yes I registered a couple days ago. Great feeling to have people all over the world taking a look at your creations.
Here is some inbetweens of Xena, hope you like them.

It is disingenuous to label this a matte painting when over 90 percent of the image is a photograph. I do matte art for a living and I find this insulting.

You should clarify on your website that this is a derivative work from a photograph -not a painting.

If you do matte art for living than you probably know that its also about interpreting the original footage and adding something that fits the image. By the way I would love to see some of your work.

ignore them franz, this is lovely.
one slight crit, i think there's alittle too much fuzz around the center structure, especially since the light is behind it. in the original image, it's shorter so the light wont' be as sharp, but since in your matte it's higher up, wouldn't the light hit it alittle differently?

maybe you are right jrr, I will try to reduce the fuzzyness a litte and see if it works out better.

hey franz, i read your email, i didn't like my college too much. i liked the students there, but i didn't like the education too much. most of the stuff i do now is self taught.

edit- ahh, my grammer is so bad.

That's damn cool. The way it was handled was fine for the definition of matte painting. I really don't see anything wrong with it except for a touch more sharpness maybe?

thanx wildspruce, it is interesting how many different definitions of the word " mattepainting" are out there.
I heard the critic about the sharpness before so there
is obviously truth in it.
