Alright, whenever I open a photoshop file without photoshop being open in the first place, it opens photoshop CS2.....the thing is though, I have PS7, and have never had CS2. So what is going on? Why would it be doing this? And the sad part, is when it opens, it automatically closes, and there is no way to set PS7 as the default. So any ideas on what I should do?

The document in question could be for Photoshop CS2, in which 7 may not recognize the file type.

I couldn't tell you why the program is opening. It's obviously recognizing it as a Photoshop file, so I mean, it may be trying to open the software briefly and then terminating due to the fact you don't actually have it.

Try opening the file normally through Photoshop. If it doesn't work, then it's probably just the file not being compatible with your version.

Is this for all PSDs?

All PSD's and TIFF's

And I own PS7, but not CS2

Did you download a trial version of CS2? It might be expired if you did. If you did I think this changes the properties of tiffs and psds so they open in CS2. Right click any PSD and TIFF change the programme it opens with to PS7 instead of CS2 in the properties menu. You only need to do this once for different file formats (PSD, Tiff, Jpeg) all the other files of the same format should start opening in the programme you chose.

to get around the problem you could always start PS7 up and use File>Open to get the .psds rather than opening from the .psd files themselves

you can also convert the file to EPS and open with another adobe application like Illustrator if you have this program?
