there are 2 things going on here
On is the Melee Battles which a simply a match of ligth team vs dark team.

then there are the head hunter battles which are one on one contests between contestants. which are ways to level up and win loot.

the next Melee will begin soon, in the next day or so, and you just join in

Can you give us more info on what the signup means and what is in store?

if you sign up to join ie: replying to this thread saying what team you want to go on, then you are listed on that teams inventory page as light side or dark side.
you then can participate in the main crusade topics, atm the current battle is battle 4 ( aerial combat over soulcrest bridge).
draw your entries as a light side or darks side. then the finished artworks go to poll, the winning team claims that territory on the battle map, and a new battle starts.

its an art crusade that may last a very very long time, because there are alot of participants now. there are 100 levels of ranks in 6 tiers to acheive through your art, and the loot you win can be cashed in for ranks.

you can be a headhunter in the headhunters guild , that entails working on 48 hour deadline battles - the headhunter battles are all 1 on 1 and are preety crazy.
