Im a first time poster but Ive been a long time watcher. Im 16 and a junior in high school so I have to start putting a portfolio together for college, so I thought why not ask you wonderfull people for some help. Feel free to comment on the good the bad and the down right ugly. Here are a few pieces Ive done in the past few months.I draw out of my head just about 99% of the time, these drawings are all without reference and 2 of the 3 are my ideas(the predators not) feel free to comment.
P.S. The images scanned funny there alot darker than this in person.

Don't expect many people to reply in this section unless you're Jamie Hewlett or George Tonge or something. ;) Hehe. A lot of people browse other peoples work here to get ideas, but might not leave a word or two. it's coo'. :D

So your pics are looking good so far, they're clear. But I think you need to try and stop using the outlines (makes them look flat) and also emphasize on shading. You should try making your darker shading darker, and your lighter highlights lighter. Basically if you have segments that are 100% black and 100% white, joined together by a gradient of gray, then you'll notice your pics looking a lot more 3D.

Try to study Life Drawing and poses. Your postures seem quite rigid at the moment, very stiff. If you try and loosen up their poses, they'll look more natural.

Keep up the good work man! :D

Hi I dont agree with BlightedArt he semes to have goten it all wrong, The sketchbooks forum is a great way of geting crits and coments! Its just that to get noticed to might need to help others so that tney can help you. :)

For crits. I think you need to do studies like every one else, spend some time looking at the human body and study the different chapes. Study your hands and small objects. Try cleaning up your lines and then start drawing simple forms and drawing them so that they look like they should. :) Its a long road and it takes time so be patient and just draw draw and draw. Thats my crit.
Welcome to CA!
Now keep it up mate!

B-Man's right. in order to get comments you have to give comments. put a link to your sketchbook in your signature too (like mine but cooler :P ). As for your portfolio i would reccomend deversifing it a little. do some still lifes, some self portraits, some drawings form frefrence. and make sure to use a variety of mediums too. colleges want to see that you can do more than a few predator drawings. Im in the process of doing this too, but it's really good that your starting early. trust me the more time you put into it the more you'll get out of it. k other than that keep drawing, update your sketchbook often, and post comments on other peoples sketchbooks to get more feedback on yours! good luck! :teeth:
