Okay, so here is my first post... Hi, so I am not really trying to be a "concept artist" but I do enjoy sketching and working with Photoshop. For all of my life I have found art easy to do but it was never my main focus. In fact, am not focused at all when it comes to art. I may go months and months before I pick up a sketch pad and seriously draw something. And as a result I haven't developed much and I still see a lot of improvement needed, but still I don't do anything about it. So, after stumbling upon this site, I decided to present some of my work and keep this online sketch book in hopes that in knowing other people see this stuff will encourage me to continue working. And do so regularly. Here goes. Remember I am no professional. More will be scanned later...
Also, feel free to comment, make suggestions, or criticize. Thanks :)
I will get around to scanning more in.

I scanned this as a sketch and painted it in photoshop. I think I will be making improvements on it.

I drew the woman during the summer but never was happy with the face, which I just touched up a few minutes ago. I probably still could do better, but the pencil is not taking well to the paper. That probably has something to do with the fixative I sprayed on it a while ago. Or the low quality of the paper.

This isn't a serious sketch, but I might as well add this and keep the work up.

So this Christmas I got a Wacom "Bambo Fun" drawing tablet thingy. I only played with a few times. Yesterday I decided to create a portrait and here is what I have done so far. I am still working on it so it currently looks like an alien:

Here are some studies I did today. I would get back to the digital painting but I have an evolution test and Electricity and Magnetism test to study for. Also, ... E&M homework... and Philosophy of Science homework and reading... darn college. Lol

I finally got back to work on art. I didn't have much time when the work load increased in my physics classes. So I spent a few more minutes touching up the image:

Great job with the portrait it is looking really nice so far.
The shadow under the chin seems a little harsh.

nah, it's fine, it's just cause the rest hasn't been worked up with contrast yet.

Thanks. :)
Yeah, I have been mostly working on the face area.
I need to get back to working on that... But right now I have started on an acrylic lanscape. It is first time I have worked with acrylic and man do they dry much faster than oils.

I thought I would work on understanding face structure better. Also, I feel I have a tendency to over work lines. I usually use a ton of little lines to build up an outline and what not. I think it has to do with me seeing shading and forms more fundemental then lines. But for quick sketches and more confidence in what I am doing I want to work on reduncing the number of lines I use.
This is nothing wonderful but since I should post more things to keep myself going...

hey gotta agree with shamandalie your works looks fantastic, you have a great grasp of anatomy and i would love to see some more of your pencil shaded work it looks great.
I think my only crit would be in post 10 her skin seems to look quite plastic, i think maybe a texture brush or more rough lines will get rid of the problem.
But anyway i will be by soon to check out future posts :)

Thanks guys.
I haven't been on here in a long time.. well because I am really busy.
Although it is not wonderful, I did this quickly for a project in a philosophy course.
They represent different philosophies on the meaning of life: theology, Humanism, and Existentialism.
