hey guys, sorry to keep you waiting, been a little distracted with work and life. havnt got a lot done, but here are so quick character concepts from the wizard of oz i kind of wanted to make a little comic about. I wanted to be a fun little project, like if Dorthy was drawn into oz in the middle of a modern revolution. I hope it will help me work on my quick painting, and maybe a little storyboard-y. They still need work, Cheers!

Smoke : Thank you! i will have to do more with the cowboy :)

Cydonix : I really appreciate that. I still really need to work on their lines of action and gesture. A lot of my character come out looking awkward

RandAlThor, snubbed and Oatestwder: thank you so much!

Crown- thank you much :) i think the scarecrow is my favorite, still don't think the lion looks cowardly

Rawr- Thank you! i was hoping I would be able to get motivated for it, but i quickly fell off the dom train, hehe

O M G!!! You have adorable style.. so dynamic both in colors and shapes.. And the stuff that inspires you are different.. or they look more interesting through the way you draw them..

April 10th, 2008, 06:12 AM
You have some lovely stuff! I really like your sketches - they're diverse, crisp and interesting. The 3-page of different houses and the bajillion tiny character thumbnails are my favorite. And damn, you drew that crazy sci-fi-western scene in your lunchbreak? I just eat and bitch about going back to the office on mine! :)

I definitely believe you'll get more here in terms of constructive feedback. DA is more of a community site, really, kinda like an art-oriented MySpace. Good luck!

I've been so busy with work and have lost all inspiration and ability! that is my excuse for the lack of artage...got quickly done today, hopefully will get back around to it for some improvements.

Love the movement and energy that your thumbnails have.
The rough gunslinger image with the blur, looks like a cel frame from a extremely cool animated movie - Love it.

All I can say (it has been said already) is do some lifedrawing/reference drawing too. It's only going to make your work stronger.

Great SB!

ya know I like the lava blacksmith dude a good deal. Its different than your normal stuff. And yeah as people say you're work has great energy and personality to it.

methinks you're strongest point so far is scene layout- not just background but arrangement and movement of characters. Storyboardish, but not as simplistic.

:D

How about that **** at two pages, well you deserve it, nice pencils and your lines are tidy enough we have a quasi similar rendering style, more tonal variance in mine but still very similar
good sense of balance in your last color. but I Love the pencils though , cool stuff :) stop by sometime

Remmy- Thank you sir. I will hopefully be posting more. Just lost motivation for the last six months :(

jedininjaman- i really appreciate that. I got a chance to fly through your sketchbook and I love your work. I will surely be stopping by soon to put in my two cents :)

Jeff Bartzis- I'll start doing stuff, i promise! :)

a la bapsi- Thank you. I'm glad you said that about the energy. I really have been trying to concentrate on that since my rendering isnt really where i'd like it to be :)

This was a drawing I started yesterday after checking out Creature box. Sooo inspireing. Anyways, my buddy Earl (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?p=1207343#post1207343) (check his stuff out) spent last night giving me tips and techniques for painting. So thank you sir! Still a few things I want to touch up on, but enjoy!

Crisp work fresh with a lot of attitude I love the stylized western shots and the way you colored the fire in the dark landscape creates an awesome atmosphere
one thing to work on though would be to have an increased variety of textures in your work even if it is very cartoony like the last one, the house is the same as his skin, which is very similar to his beard...:)
keep it up
