I havnt posted in awhile and figured this would be a good
piece to start up with.
Oil painting 24 inches X 30 inches. I
either need to get another digital camera or take slides with my regular camera.
My digi-cam isnt cutting it for posting work.

I thought it will be something from the King Crimson band, when I saw the title.

Very nice painting.

yeh i thought it was band related too, but i guess its the stephen king one?
the painting itself has some anatomy problems and not much crimson (not as one would expect that is)

I suppose if I would have been talking about the band in question I would have said King Crimson...not Crimson King.

Lung: Thanks for responding but just saying that the painting has some anatomy problems doesn't do me much good. It's like half a crit. Lemme know what you see and think so I can address it and learn from it. As for the crimson king comment not having enough crimson...to me thats just an opinion. You might as well have said he's probably gonna wear a shirt, have hair and a mouth. (Or maybe none of the above. Stephen King has never really described the physical characteristics of him).

I checked out the King Crimson website not many kings, and not much crimson either (not as one would expect that is).:D

Well, I'm not Lung, but I'll just jump right in here...

Head is too big (OR everything else is too small).

Neck anatomy unresolved.

Pectorals overrendered, but inaccurate.

Too much space between pecs and abdominals.

Ribs/lats (?) confused, and curving in wrong direction.

Upper arms too short.

Lower arms overrendered, but inaccurate.

Foreshortening on left hand clumsily handled.

Proportions of right hand are off; palm is too long, looks like a chimp hand.

Legs connect directly into trunk. HE HAS NO PELVIS! This also makes his legs look too short.

I noticed a lot of similar anatomy and proportion problems on your site. This probably means that your mental model of the figure is off, and you need to do a lot more work from life and good reference before you can convincingly invent one.
