I think it needs some wear and tear- like a broken side (more stones poping out) unless your going for reatime then you should cut out the cracks. but so far looks good.

Alittle more I added today. I scaled down the roof from another persons suggestion, as well as added a roof to other parts. The stairs and side room are new as well as the lamps, but early in modeling, i am trying to lay everything out. Wear and tear will be a last touch, but thanx for suggestion

Hey ur off to a great start and i cant wait to see it textured, my only crit is that i think your are spendiung too much time modelling detail when you dont need to like the bricks around the doorway because that can easily be done in the texture process and save you polys.

thanx Gas: But i wanted to make a model itself look good, and detailed- so from any angle it looks far and upclose it looks dertailed, ll the way to the keyhole on the door handle. In doing so it will take longer and be a pain in the butt to navigate around the model, but this is just for fun and a warmup before i start my characters. Thanx again for the comments PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING!:blue:

You def need to light the model while working on it. Lighting is so very important to the modeling process. Seriously.

I see from your pic in the other forum that you are using max 5.

Try this:

Create a skylight. Set the color to a slight blue(up a bit from the default), and change it's multiplier to .6

Now create a targeted spot. Set it up so that it is hitting the model at around 45degrees, and off center a bit. Turn on shadows, and set the shadow type to "Area". Make the light color a slight yellow.

Open the Advanced lighting dialog(render menu). Change these settings from the defaults:

Rays/Sample: 45
Filter size: 6

Make a new default material and set it's color to grey. Appy it to your model.

In the render dialog, set your AA to "catmull-rom".

Render it out.

Believe me, a simple but quality lighting setup will help you better visualize problem areas, as well as spur you on, as it makes the model look really great.

Just some thoughts. Looks pretty cool.

It seams on that last pic the steps are way steep. Maybe re-think those stairs.

P.S. That lighting helps out allot.

the only thing i can pick fault with atm is the scale, the curved stepway at the front right looks too big compared to the door on its left, apart from that, awesome work, looking forward to seeing it textured up :)

As far as i can see and think, it looks brilliant. The lighting looks marvelous. also the dirt for the whole structure, i suggest you use textures. I have been doing just that and i have had more success with them. But the modelling is A+ from my veiwpoint. Keep 'em coming.
