Bioware just became part of the beast.

One of the largest video game developers in the world is expanding its presence in Canada. EA has completed its acquisition of VG Holding Corp., the parent company of BioWare Corp. and Pandemic Studios, for US$629million, plus an additional US$190million in other charges.
Pandemic Studios and BioWare Corp. employ about 800 people across four studios in Edmonton LA, Austin Texas and Brisbane Australia. The two labels will be brought under the EA Games banner. The move provides EA with 10 new franchises based on 6 wholly owned IP's and, according to the company, is aimed at securing a more competitive position in the RPG, action and Adventure game genres.

Frank Gibeau, president of Ea Games, will oversee the studios. Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk of BioWare Corp. have each been named as Vice-presidents of EA and co-general managers of BioWare Corp. Pandemic Studios' Andrew Goldman and Josh Resnick have been named vice-presidents of EA and Co-general managers of Pandemic Studios; Greg Borrud has been named vice-president of EA and chief production officer of Pandemic Studios.

According to Gamasutra, Elevation Partners, the previous owner of VG Holding Corp., was founded by now EA CEO Joh Riccitiello in 2004 after he resigned as EA president.
