Not sure if this has been covered.......... just discovered that Toy Story 3
has been confirmed for a 2010 release....
Shudder.... ok so Toy Story 2 was enjoyable, but to me it smells of milking the cash cow, which I somehow thought Pixar were above, maybe its the Disney influence rubbing off.... I am well aware of Pixar's relationship with Disney and that Disney bought Pixar, I just worry that in ten years time Pixar will go the way of Disney and churn out dirge......
Or maybe I am just peeved cos Brad Bird is not involved in any of their upcoming projects.

The world would be a better place if Pixar would only put all their efforts into making The Incredibles 2: Attack of The Underminer :)
And even more better if they had plans for a 3rd installment.

Yeah, another sequel to Toy Story isn't necessary. Toy Story 2 was very good as far as sequels go, though, so hopefully they'll put in the effort to make a quality movie and not something like Shrek 3.
Since we're talking about Pixar, who else is really looking forward to Wall-E?:rendered:

from what i have read before Disney bought Pixar Disney were going to release Toy Story 3 themselves as Disney own the rights to all the characters and can release a sequel to any Pixar film without consent from Pixar that last part scares me See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toy_Story_3... fortunately Pixar are on board....
Have to agree a new Incredibles film would be cool, but only if the 800 pound gorilla himself Brad Bird is involved, in an interview with Dvd Radio he didn't rule it out.
Wall-e looks interesting good to see Pixar pushing boundaries the plans are to make the film without human voices just computer beeps.

Toy Story 3 hey. Well I guess they've had plenty of time to think about a story and all that. Pixar do put a lot of thought into their work so I think it'll be good.
I think they're finally doing it to get people interested in their movies again. No one seemed to take any notice of Ratatouille and considering every person and their dog releases movies with talking animals these days Pixar need something that everyone is familiar with and has enjoyed in the past. That's my theory anyway.
And yes I am looking forward to Wall-E as it looks like an animated film that is doing more than just make animals talk and act like peoples.

I'm not even that fond of the first two so I really couldn't care for a third...

Somehow, I have zero interest in Wall-E... Looks so uninteresting... I mean, a cute robot and an almost silent movie (and I love silent films)... But to be fair, I also initially thought Ratatouille was vastly unintersting at first, but is now my favourite Pixar film (thanx to really good word of mouth)....

I would have figured that since the second movie that kid already bought an Xbox and throw his toys away, but what do i know.
Although the second was good, i really dont feel theres a need for a third,by now would be cool to see some new concepts and different stories rather than the revival of an old franchise. 3d Animation has gotten quite uninteresting, at least for me. But kids still like those movies, i guess im not part of the demography anyway.

Modern 3D is done using polarized glasses, not red-blue filters. As long as you have two eyes and your head is vertical it'll work for you.

People are seriously not intersted in Pixar movies now? I find that surprising. They managed to make a pretty enjoyable movie with nothing but talking cars as the characters, something I thought was going to be the nail in their creative coffin. And Ratatouille was a brilliant film. I'm of the opinion that Pixar can make an interesting story out of just about anything :)

The theory I'm going with is that because there are so many CG films out there these days, Pixar is now just one more face in the crowd regardless of the fact that they are the best. I've liked all their films (though for me Cars and Ratatoullie weren't their best) and am sick of all the sub par copycats out there.
Anyways I don't think I'm gonna see the 3D version of Toy Story 3, I'm not a big fan 3D films myself. I'll stick with the two dimensions for now.

No one seemed to take any notice of Ratatouille and considering every person and their dog releases movies with talking animals these days Pixar need something that everyone is familiar with and has enjoyed in the past. That's my theory anyway.Ratatouille is the 3rd most commercially successful pixar movie to date and it got nothing but good reviews.
Pixar has released a commercially and critically successful movie every single year since they started. If every movie studio could do this, they would, so how come Pixar is the only one that pulls it off? They do all of this with only 1000 employees also.
Wall E is going to have a live action actor in the movie, against an animated background I'm assuming. The animation must be really convincing.
I don't like movies that make me wear 3d glasses. When you watch a movie you get the illusion of 3 dimensions, it doesn't matter if stuff actually flies into your face or not.

Sound like Disney was going to go ahead with it wether Pixar liked it or not, especially since they own the rights to all the characters Pixar created for them. Pixar will probably get on board just to make sure it doesn't turn out too badly. I think some frachises, like Shrek for example, start to lose their charm with the more sequals are made from it.

Pixar's magic has always been about the writing. The animation is just supportive of that great writing and storytelling. I'd be willing to bet that there is as much time spent in the conceptual part with storytelling as there is in the actual animating of their features. They just seem to refine their stories until it works so well that you could probably do a feature with just stick figures.
