Hi everybody!
I hope this topic is at the right place...
This is my first message on Conceptart, so my name is Nivanh Chanthara, I'm a designer in animation since last year (so many things to learn!!)
You can see some of my personnal illustrations below: don't hesitate to tell me what you think about it, I want to improve myself and get new skills!!
Thank you for your time and your critics,
Duster

Duster...great pieces! I love the clean rendering and the color palette is really captivating. I would have to say, your last one is my favourite. The fog works really well, however the sky somehow seems a bit out of place. Perhaps it should be more foggy, in order not to distract from the architectural details of the structure. Congrats.

woooww... ok let's be constructive
-the first one is confusing. Why? Firstly, it seems as though the robot is reaching for something. But, I can't tell what the "robot" is reaching for. In addition, I cant seem to find its head. The light (and subsequent light trail) on the back of his armor draws attention from whatever your intendin to be his head. On the bright side, your perspective and rendering are both awesome.
-the second illus is less confusing, but needs work nonetheless. The robot seems to be walking out out of a doorway, simple enough right? But, as a solder, why is he looking at the ground? Is he sad, thoughtful, or tired? If he's any of the above, then you should show it with the rest of his body as well. Continuing, overall the pose you choose doesn't convey much, if anything. It appears that he's about to take another step and pointing to where his next step will land. Not too sure if that was your intended meaning. To top it off, the back side of the robot is a bit fuzzy while the rest of the image is sharp, which only adds to the confusion. As always your rendering of the background is cool.
-the third image is straight forward. It kinda reminds me of the cover of a .Hack/ manga comic book.
-the forth is a cool close up of your robots. It goes with out saying, you rendering and color use is sweet. But..... it could use a background. Just suggesting.
-the last one, is an excercise in perspective. I this two ways. First, I see this as a vertical look(as if I standing at the base of the building). Second, I see a horizontal perspective (as if I was standing on the roof of the building, looking across its top. The latter is probably your intention, which you try show with godrays (rays of light that show between breaks in the clouds). try increasing the contrast of the these rays of light....
Hey welcome to CA, and I hope that was helpful...
Seeya 'round.

Hi, everybody.
This is a digital painting for the INKTHIS/03 show in London. Each artist invited have to do one letter of the alphabet. So here is my "F".
Don't ask me what is it, I just know it's a "F". :)
Just tell me what do you think about it.

Love what you do Duster. It's tru that the thirde reminds some Appleseed or nomad cover.
For the "F", i don't see a F at the first glance, bur the design is really cool, looks a bit like what HPX do.
Bienvenue dans le Forum ( sa fait du bien de taper en français).

Awesome stuff in here dude. I wish we had more graffiti on the streets of SF like this. Coro'll probably tell me we do but I'm just too wussy to go hunting under freeway overpasses haha
For those who haven't seen the Iron Man Armored Adventures series yet (it's on Nicktoons, not sure if it's out yet) then definitely take a look! The design is absolutely top notch - the story and stuff.. well, whatever haha - but take a look, it's really beautiful. I'll let Nivanh tell you who else is working on it :)
Anyway dude, a real fan of your work, especially the 'tank' hahaha
*edit: you asked for crits. SO I'd have to say the thing letting you down in your colour work is that you frequently go from a beautiful range of light tones and colours (which work terrifically in your
environments) to BLACK. It seems like the midtones need some work and that maybe some digital (or other) still lifes of real objects would help you find that full range of stuff evident in real-world
objects. Personally I think I could stand to learn a thing or two from your higher ranges, and am totally gonna rip you off haha.
Part of it may be your monitor calibration or something, and that you're not 'seeing' the midranges like we are. Having said this, the finished iron man personal piece has everything anybody could want
in value ranges, and the tank has a much better range than some others. So you're capable of it, just not always applying it in the right places. So try to be less heavy-handed I guess.*
*second edit: Post that city environment BIGGER, silly! It's awesome. Use a bigger jpeg and upload it directly to CA.*

Yeah, thank you very much DIRTY C.
We had a lot of problems with DATAQUEST (India) who made 90% of the animation. The 10% was the fight-scenes and it was made by the french team in Paris. But I swear, we did our maximum to save the serie, even it was hard.
The 2 first issues are the worst, but I think it will be a little bit better for the next.
Anyway, thank you again for you advices DIRTY C. Like I said before I'll work on this way.
I post a larger size of the city like you asked ;)

wow! excellent work. very nice enviroments and mechs. i especially like the last enviro. it's very atmospheric.
the last one is very dynamic and has a very good lighting. i have only one advice. you should bulge and shrink the skin texture(s) to fit the bulges of the muscles. it doesn't help the image the way it is now, it flattens the painting. waiting for more!
