TC# 41: fancy superhero

G'day Folks!
I hope everyone is satisfied with my choice for the topic and i would like to see many of you guys participating on this one, thx :].

The Rules:
Anyone ages 13-19 may submit an entry at any time before the deadline. Please host your image on a remote image-hosting site instead of uploading it to the CA server. This makes it much easier to transfer it to the poll thread.

The Topic:
fancy superhero: think of a new kind of superhero. his superpowers can be physical or psychalic. there are two ways of solving this topic:
1)make your character serious: your hero can be good or evil, man or woman. his powers must be new - no copying from marvel. be inventive.
2)make your character funny: think of a hero with unfit superpowers. his apearance should be totally absurd. (f. ex.: outfit). and himself doesn't notice his foolishness.
don't forget to name your hero!!

Please add a small description or storyline. We don't want a five page essay but make it nice, brief, and to the point. Especially if there is something in your design which needs explaining.

Add a border around your image with your name and the topic, like they do with the other of the week challenges.

well I've thought of a lot of funny ones...might have to go in that direction xD

edit: hmm...lets see i just did really quick sketches of a 'super hero' girl whose power(s) are-
able to stay really ridiculously fancy and good looking while whoopin' ass. she uses a parasol and her girlish charms to defeat enemies. WOOT haha probably won't go with this but it was amusing for the moment ;)

srry but i could never find out why and so i have never used an image host, does that effect your images at all? my sketchbook is entrely hosted on the server of Concept art. i have a feeling that that's a bad thing.............

Name: Epithet
Real name: Laud Skyler
Background: born of a French English teacher and a novelist, Laud discovered his ability the day he called his brother a ‘poopy pants’, whereupon his brother had uncontrollable bowels for the next three hours. Laud works as a gormet cheese chef, renowned for his exquisite skill with the cheese grater and fancy cheese dish creations.
Ability: when Epithet throws an attribute at anyone the attribute 'sticks', impeding or creating any single aspect of that person (physical or psychological, etc). Once thrown, attributes 'stick' for three hours, and only one attribute can 'stick' at any given time (newer ones just bounce off). The more out-of-character the attribute (i.e. a genius ‘stuck’ with “Stupid”), the more effort it takes for Epithet to throw the attribute. He can throw an attribute at himself. He also boasts a more physical attack: the cheese graters affixed to his legs and arms are sharp!
Disability: not only can his own thrown attributes come back to bite him in the bum, but he suffers chronic migraines brought on by the misuse of apostrophes (villains often wear T-shirts with “your’e” instead of “you’re” as protection against Epithet’s meddling)
(an "epithet" is a word of phrase preceding or following a name which serves to describe the character of a person. Laud is Latin for "Praise", Skyler is a name meaning "Fugitive; giving shelter." – his ‘praise’, i.e. a good attribute, can give shelter)

Steven Johnson was once a highly respected lawyer...Untill that fateful day when cellphones first hit the market. He was a lawyer so he obviously had to have one but every time he entered a store to buy one they all seemed to go crazy, beeping and ringing wildy. Eventually Steven discovered he had a gift. He could make cellphones ring whenever he wanted to. At first this ability sounded like it was a stupid power, but eventually humans began to completely rely on cellphones and if their phone rang they would have to answer. Later after making his awesome costume (The red mask.) he decided he needed to give himself a name. He had heard the word cellulite before and thought it was a cool sounding word. Now in present time he knows the meaning of the word and has tried to change it many times but everyone knows him as Cell-u-lite.

thr0atcutter, I think this challenge was thought up really so that people who had newly found this site and specifically people who were just coming into their artistic abillities would have somewhere to show their work without being intimidated by the admitedly awesome work that resides in places like the finally finished section of this site, also it gives teens a chance to see what other people around their age can produce and what they should aspire to. I think that whoever thought of the challenge would have wanted to limit who enters this challenge so umm it's a fairly level playing field.

Lord-M, as far as I'm concerned you're welcome to enter, and even if anyone did mind at the very least you could do the piece of work and post it along side if someone actually did have a major problem with it (unlikely really), as let's face it the main whole aim of these challenges is to improve our artwork not to beat the people around us.

Oh also I'm in for this challenge, for the first time in weeks I'm not weighed down by ridiculous quantities of work, I really will get it done this time.

Insecto - Once a friendly entomologist named Karl Johansson who in his laboratory studied the DNA of several insects. Since he searched for certain genes in the samples - he marked them with radioactivity. But the machine which would have read the radioactive markers exploded and the insects DNA got buried in his own body. His DNA mixed with the insect DNA. The entomologist transformed, he was no longer the entomologist known as Karl Johansson. He was now Insecto - the hero with insectlike powers. Like an ant he can lift things 50 times his own weight, his mantislike talons can cut through steel and armour and just like a wasp he can fly towards his target on gracefull wings. And not only that, he can communicate with insects and call upon them to fight for him.

@lord m: nice idea orientating yourself on insects. really nice so far, especially the head. but you should try to change the way he is holding his left leg. it's disturbing the perspektive. it should become bigger the nearer it comes to the foreground, the color/lightinfluences are changing aswell.
the bouncing lights and highlights of the armorparts seem very nice, try to continue those values on the whole suit. and don't forget to add some global shadow not only the shadows of the suit-structure.
just some help for orientation, you don't need to change it this way.

ehm.. but how about some structure in the eyes like flys have it... and what about wings ;)

I can't see where is light falling from :S according to legs looks like there's two light sources from the back, but also, when I look at his eyes, I seems like there's one source from ahead. Don't use multiple sources if you are a beginner It can only confuse you.

Did this at school last year.

Daniel Grim is a depressed teenager and he finds a suicidal note, written by his dad, on his bed. Next to it was an odd looking mask. He puts it on, and transforms into the Night Assassin. Turns out the mask was crafted by an ancient civilization, who used these masks on police. A dark figure would emerge from the mask when the wielder is at his darkest hour. The dark figure is basically all the negative emotions. Once he wielder has slayed it, he shall return to his normal self. The mask was made to do that so that the police wouldn't become corrupt with power.

The powers you gain from the Mask is the ability to control fire and invisibility.

Here's mine! He's named Thunderhand! His arms are extremly powerfull, and can couse a lightning storm. He's an regularly guy, except he becomes Thunderhand when he concentrate enough. He's a product of an natural disaster....
