WATTS Atelier students, can you help me?

I am trying to learn to do quick sketches/gestures. I am struggling to find a method that works for me. I am interested in the "Abstraction" method being taught by EM Gist at the WATTS Atelier.

Is there anyone who can explain what it is and how it works?
