Damn Lucas..slow down so that I can catch up! :)

Good renderings on the portraits and your quicksketches have taken a huge step forward since last semester. THe only minor things that stick at out to me are:

1) The first portrait, his head and shoulders dont seem to line up. It almost feels like his neck is disjointed or misaligned. It also feels cramped on the left side, which may be why the head seems out of place.

2) You nailed her likeness, which is tough for me for some reason. Her eyes seem a bit small though, especially her left eye.

Otherwise, great work!

i think all your work is great, but the page of gestures is my favorite, they are each very light sensitive which is very nice, good work!!

Dzu- Thanks for your comments. I cropped the 1st image cause I didn't finish his hands. So maybe thats why it feels cramped. I really wanted to apply everything we're learning from Hands/Feet/Drapery, but I just ran out of time. Maybe the 6hr figure next semester eh?

NewAgeSamurai- Thanks for your comments!

Nice job on the quick figure studies, you excel on those portraits bro. Great stuff. I agree with dzu. The first portrait conveys the feeling of being "cramped" like you were trying to fit too much of the character in, because you saw that u were running out of room. But the portrait itself is stellar. Good job. Man I wish I was at the atelier. DAMN BILLS! AGGRHHH!

I really like the distortion on this one. If it was purposeful, good job. If it wasn't, figure out what you did so next time it will be.

the model had a long face. lucas' representation was pretty right on. also that is a digital picture of it and there could be minor distortion because of it. awesome job lucas.

Thanks guys for the comments. the model in that last portrait did have a longer face. I may have exagerated the porportions a little, but it was not on purpose. Still learning to nail my porportions. I appreciate the crits!

aaggh!!! its death!!! oh..wait, its just erik. Cool stuff man, the other thing i'd say is that on the portrait of wendy, the composition is a little generic, but thats all. The likeness is really close. And erik never looked better.:D

YO man, didn't get a chance to tell ya last night but I dug the standing monk one. Good stuff man, its comin along. My only crit is on the core shadow of the sleeve, it feels like it is breaking the form and rhythm of his arm a lot. I know it was there, but it starts to become the focus for me.
Tone down a little?

See ya in class mang.

good stuff lucas. I agree with Pat re: the shadow on the sleeve. It looks a little cut out right now. Maybe recheck the edges to see where the cast shadow is vs the softer core. The value seems darker there than anywhere else, which as Pat says, attracts the eye. Also, to me he looks like he's floating rather than standing on something. You got a lot down in just 30 mins though.

Deth Jester- Thanks for your reply. I never really did any lifedrawing before I went to Watt's. Throughout high school I couldn't stand the idea of drawing from life, I like drawing from my head. Soon I realized that figure drawing and sketching from life is a base nescesity for all types of art.

DNSK2- Looking over my shoulder eh?! Well I'm gonna have to watch my back when your around!

MindCandyMan-Thanks for your reply. I've been checking out your post, your stuff is really coming along. Keep at it!

behemot5- Thanks!
