Whelp. Here we go again. I started a few years back with a sketchbook thread but I'm not to sure how to track it down and its been so long that I just feel as though I should start a new. I attended the Revelations workshop and basically that inspired the hell out of me. I'm so glad I attended and I hope that I can get the funds to go to next years' workshop. Anyways take a look tell me what you think.
I'll give alittle bio. I am a student at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. I plan on getting out after two more years of school and joining the real world outside of Michigan.
CRITZ and COMMENTS are more than welcome.

Nice amount of work you have there! I love the skull with the sunglasses.
Seems like you draw a lot of life, but do you anatomy? Meat and bones? Hope to see some from you!
Keep it up!

Wow I haven't posted in awhile. I need to start doing it regularly! I know my weaknesses and I just have to keep on tackling them. Its a hard road. After showing my portfolio to Carl Dobsky I was really inspired to work harder. Man Revelations kicked my ass.
For my final assignment in Illustration Tech, we had to create a tryptic from a song. I chose Augustana's Cactus Man Rides Again because the imagery just took me away. I also had a lot of influence by the movie Metropolis which is a 1927 German silent film. My basic concept is about a man that has been hardened by his surrounding environment, or the working city, but still remains full of life. The working city are just drones working day to day, paycheck to paycheck. They to are also being hardened but they no longer have that life in them like the cactus man does. (The life being the soft and juice center of a cactus.) By the end he realizes he is not a machine and rides his bike again. I'll give you some background on this song because its very close to me. Its all instrumental and I use it whenever I take my old schwinn out for a ride to escape a monotonous day.
Anyways I gave these pieces my all, especially since I had a time crunch. I'm trying my best to get better but I just feel like I'm going in circles. Ah! The life of an artist, you're never satisfied until you're dead. Give me some crits, dudes and ladies.

Here is Princess Peach. We do a weekly competition over at Wolfpack Ink (http://www.wolfpackink.com) The topic was Mario Brothers. Looking at it about a week later it still needs a bit of work. I've been given some great crits so far and I plan on going back into it. For one thing its hard to tell that it is even a Princess. I'll fix things up later on this week.

Here is a piece from my Digital Painting class. We had to work only black and white. I really wanted to focus on texture in Photoshop. Prior to this I stayed in Corel Painter and was having trouble finding good brushes. If anyone has a good suggestions on where to find them let me know. I chose the subject of Adam and Eve. This is the point where Eve grabs fruit from the forbidden tree. Shoot some comments I would love to hear/read them.

Here are some older sketches from earlier on in the semester.
Other news. I officially have my plane tickets to Comic-con! I'm rooming with some buddies like Wes Eggerbrecht (http://www.artbywesley.com/) and Matt Byle (http://matthewbyle.blogspot.com/) from CCS.
Also I am attending a workshop (http://www.wattsatelier.com/Art_Instruction/Workshops/cms.aspx) with Jon Foster (http://www.jonfoster.com) a few days prior to so I'm definitely stoked about that! I can't wait. If anyone else is going to this workshop let me know. I'm looking into a hotel room soon (cheap as hell) and if anyone wants to room let me know. I'm flying in the July 19th and will have the hotel until the morning of the 24th where I will then meet up with my CCS friends and shack up with them. email me at scottcdaly@gmail.com
