So I've suddenly got the urge to start sculpting and some problems have come up. I am using Super Sculpey around wire and tin foil and after around two hours of work I need to take a break since the clay is getting too warm to easily work with. I was wondering if putting the model in the fridge would make it easier to mold and work on. I'm afraid some unkown malady will occur, like it will crack or something.
I've got some pictures of my WIP so far (A little blury as the camera is bad) that I'll post soon.

It shouldnt be too bad if you have a good base for it to stick to. If the foil/wire armature isnt solid the clay can deform while trying to work with it. You can try putting an under layer of sculpey and bake that so you have something to work off of. Then add some more wrapped wire and another layer of sculpey. Make sure to rough up the sculpey real well so the next layer can stick to it without air pockets forming between layers.
I suggest picking up Sculpey Firm, its grey in color. I found most art stores have never heard of it, odd since its such a good product, or just dont carry it so call around first before driving over. It is firmer, obviously, so it can take detail without distorting like regular super sculpey. Its also a little drier, I have started mixing it in a ratio of 2 parts firm to 1 part super, except in places where I want more detail like faces. Pick up some sculpey diluent too, it will come in handy if you decide to start sculpting again down the road and need to soften up any clay.
