I seriously hope I'm doing this right. I'm so new I still have that hopeless newbie smell. You know what I mean. The one that practically beckons the ruthless to come forth and rip the helpless hopeless one to bits. Perhaps ironically, I have a question! Do I post all my sculptures in this thread, or am I allowed a new thread per artwork?

I wanted to pay homage to my favorite Greek goddess Athena. Unfortunately, I don't think I've conveyed that particularly well. I don't mind harsh critique, so go to town. I need to build a thick skin, 'neways.

Made out of super sculpey and painted with acrylics.

Athena is suppose to wear a cask/hat on her head. Perhaps it you put a cloth on her shoulders and curl the hairs, it would have more a greek style.
The greeks have a standard of proportions for the sculptures or the paintings. But your style is also is good.

she looks little bit asian to me! why dont you try to start sculpting out of reference, it will help you to understand better the greek style statues, unless of course you wanted to give her your own personal style.

as for the thread if you want to show case few of your sculptures i think it is ok to post them all in one thread, if you want to show a new one every time you finish one, i guess new thread it will be better.
one question if i may ask, why athena is your favorite goddess?

I dont think you need to worry about harsh critique - people seem to be very nice and positive in here. Sculp - read - post - have fun - be proud of your work - you are doing great so far - and you are willing to learn and develop your skills - that is where it counts in the end.
I would recommend doing a lot of heads, noses, feet etc - that way you will notice your own progress from session to session - in a very short time.
