contour lines!

is there a simple way to figure out hot to curve contour lines? I have done several studies of my hand, but I can't make it look finished and the way I have seen it on a lot on this forum. What can I do to practice and figure this out. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

maybe if you posted an image of what you are currently doing and then an example of what you want to be able to do, it would make it easier for people to understand exactly what you mean
