What type of sketchbook paper was Wes using at Revelations? I got a canson standard today and I thought it was what he used however it definetly wasn't smooth enough! I think it was bristol smooth in red lettering but I can't recall. Any helpful hints anyone?

It's probably Canson Plate/Smooth Bristol. Really nice stuff.

You could just go to the store and find some paper that feels good to you. Nothing magic about Wes' brand.
I read a story recently about a man who was interviewing Frank Frazetta and Frazetta mentioned that he painted with a Mickey Mouse watercolor set. The interviewer thought he was making a joke, so Frazetta went into his studio and showed him an actual Mickey Mouse children's watercolor set.

Hahaha Thanks for that one Dave! I agree completely, I just thought that I could get a better diea of the smoothness I was looking for if I found that one for comparision in the store. I am no way trying to find the exact one. I recently purchased a canson with the red text, it felt smooth to the touch but I think it was just the standard because when I pencil tested it in the store the texture was very toothy....AH HA! I think I found out why! The first image is the sketchbook I almost bought and thought was the correct smoothness....the second is what I think most people use when going for smoothness! It all makes sense now! I can see why I would make that mistake....
Oh by the way, your this weeks concept artist of the week on my facebook group blog Dave! Congrats ;)
