Nope. This is the poster for Ralph Bakshi's animated Lord of the Rings. You can see a signature under Frodo's foot. I can't quite make it out, but it sure ain't Frank's ;).

Frazetta did do a couple of Tolkien pieces. His Gollum is pretty good, but otherwise it's a rather bizarre meeting of author and illustrator. And of course he later did work with Bakshi on Fire and Ice, although I've never met anyone who's actually seen it.

Elwell, I've seen Fire and Ice repeatedly - it was kind of a guilty pleasure in college. It's cheesy but entertaining and if you want to see Frazetta's work and characters come to life, it's worth tracking down.

The backgrounds were painted by James Gurney and Thomas Kinkade . Yes, that Thomas Kinkade.

Thomas Kinkade? wow... i never knew that. lol learn something new everyday. it was a good movie just to see like Wetterschneider said Frazetta's images in motion. That alone was worth the pain of the plot.
