Hello.

I'm new and I'm not even sure if this is the area to post this, but here it goes. As of now I will be going off to art college next fall. My dream job has always been to draw comic books (be a penciler). Although I know very little about the job. I have researched it myself, but I feel that the best answers come from those with experience. If there is anyone out there who knows about the job then I do have a few questions:

1. Is the job completely freelance or can you stay with a company and draw for them (for about the entire comic series)? Or is it not like that at all?

2. About how much does it pay? (once again I've researched these questions, but I want to know from someone with experience).

3. Other than neatness and originality, is there another way for me to get noticed by a company or client?

Those are only a few questions that I have and I hope they don't seem too silly. I really want to do this with my life, but I want to understand it more.

1. I think it varies, but if you want an ongoing gig you had better be able to meet deadlines.

2. Go down to the employment forum at the bottom of the main forum page and you can find discussions of how much people get paid for different art jobs.

3. You might be able to get a little attention on here:yayca: . There will be a comic style weekly activity in the Community Activities called POW which is scheduled to begin about a week from now. You can do your best in that activity thus getting some portfolio material together (and networking).
