This is a character from a vampire concept I've been working on for a while now. Mouse drawn (emulated painted) with vector graphics with final colour tweak in PS. Kinda messed up half way and lost my desire to do a full body shot. Anyways, still hope you like it!

very nice i like the way how you use warm cool colours instead of the light darks you usualy see ...

I´m normally not in Animestuff at all but this is a fine work. What program did you use? Illustrator? As me doing at work a lot of Vectorstuff I really respect the efforts and knowledge you put in this picture. I would like to have a look at the original vector-file just to see how you´ve done different things ;)

Fine work!

 nice ! this much of the painting in my opinion does not require a full body! I`d say she is complete!

Wow that's beautiful.

Very nice overall design. The typo and chop fit in nicely, and I think you have an excellent solution with the white space...considering you didnt want to finish the body. :)

I am definitely impressed by the fact that this was mouse drawn (I didnt know they could hold a pencil....the have very tiny hands. ;) ). I think Iam more impressed with the fact that you colored this in a vector format, and managed to have it look so painterly. Very nice work indeed.

Beautiful piece...love the hair. I, along with Fipse, would like to see a post of the vector artwork. I'm interested in the art's evolution. Great work --Dan

Wow. This is an example for everyone bitching about having to draw with a mouse / vector !!!
The only thing that bothers me is the blood splotches' blending being abrupt..
Oh and I have to admit the "morte" typo kills me. :(
Right-click+save :)

Edit: What program did you use for this ? That must've been one BIGASS file... ! :o

Incredible... just amazing. Just look at the hair fer chris' sake!
And the flower. And the dress. And the skin. And the... Payback trails off and just stares blankly at the screen. ;)

Mucho Gracias for the replies guys!

Sammy, Grooveholmes, Lume, NOOSE, Bammer, davi, Payback, Jnorish: Thanks guys! :chug::

murderdoll:: Thanks! Yup it was entirely mouse, but I don't know how people can vector with an intuous?? :)

Fipse:: Thanks! That's cool. I used xara though none of the fancy brushes, bmps, fractals, etc...
Just gradiated shapes and lines. Unfortunately, I don't distribute my vector files
but maybe the examples below will give you an idea?

steeldolphon:: lol, my mouse's name is 'Mickey' ;) I whip him whenever he acts up on me.

danielh68:: A bit busy to to do a progress post but hopefully the example pics below will help ^^

egerie:: hehe Thanks! It was done in Xara with final colour tweak in PS. I'm a very bad typist :(

gallon:: I really can't give a solid number. I started it about last year in the summer,
and worked on it off an on whenever I had free time. It wasn't a piece I felt like
rushing or eager to show off... it just kept on evolving thru the drawing/painting progress :)

Thanks again all :chug:

Hey Bosatsu! Great to see another post from you. :) Guess you don't need me to tell you that your work is awesome! Blows my mind that this is vector ... it's too bad all I see are red x's for the progress pics though.

wow vector? You handled the colours very nicely. The typo is very well integrated. Impressive!

Hi Bosatsu,

unfortunately I see the dreaded red X for your examples. But be assured I never expected to get some vectors from you - this was more of a joke I didn´t want to give them out either ;).

Xsara you´re using ... I never tried this, I´m mostly working with Freehand and Illustrator but maybe I will give it a try.

Thanks for the insights!

I get red Xs too as the page seems to be missing.
*runs to find Xsara in the hopes it will miraculously make her as talented as Bosatsu* :D

Sorry about that! I posted the examples on another forum
and was sucking the bandwidth so I had to upload to another webspace. Unfortunately I put it in the wrong directory. DOh! It should work fine now :)

Kimmy: HEY! It's K-Loh!!! Always great to see you around the boards :) Thanks kimmy ^_____^!

ShawnYe: Thanks :)

Fipse: Hehe no prob ^^ It's actually "xara". I think you can download a free 30 day trial on the site!

egerie: hehe, the examples whould work now :)

P.S. hope you don't mind I linked some of you guy's homepages to my site :) Cheers :chug:

You MUST make a tutorial on your process!!

That's definately some of the most amazing vector illustrations Ive seen..

WOW.

I'm impressed, but mostly by the hair and the ruffle around the collar of her garment. Amazing work.

Bosatsu
September 17th, 2003, 12:10 PM
heiesuke: Yup it is Xara. I thought it was MAC compatible?? :(
I am on a PC. Hopefully they will make one for other platforms because the software is quite sophisticated albeit simple.

C0g: Thanks man!!

Roam: Eventually down the road once I complete some of my projects (which could take a long while) I do hope to put up a tutorial of some sort. I'm still experimenting with the technique at the moment, since this is only my 3rd completed vector painting so there are still other areas I would like to experiment with.

rimwalker: Thankyou very much :)

I truly appreciate the comments and don't take them for granted. Thanks everyone! :chug:

This is gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous I really think it's delicate and tactile for a digital piece... But... what I really wanted to say is that I *LOVE* the pice-breakdown page!!!! The color one!!!! Make a desktop out of it, no kidding!!
