hi conceptart people, im new here and i think this place is packed with massive talent, so i figure it would be nice to get help here.
i recently just got interested in art, lets just say 6 months ago. its just a "sudden" thing.
i lack foundations, and i jumped right into digital painting, and thats where i took some serious hits.
so right now, my goal is too use this online sketchbook as a tool to push myself to continuously practice, upload, and listen.
im sort of in a tight schedule right now with the end of my semester coming, so ill post my earlier works first.
"dancing building" was my first art work ever, and i actually thought it was good during then haha, not now though.

i have alot of artworks not worth showing, its all in my deviantart scrap.
these ones are the most recent, finally going back to traditional media and working on my basic drawing foundation, such as perspective.

as new as early this week. some thumbnails focusing on perspective, also trying out a different medium.
edit:sorry i uploaded em too small. but if the values and perspective doesnt read properly at this size, its probably equally bad if its bigger.

oh my first time using watercolor. this was from last night, a quick one in about an 45 minutes. i still do not know how to apply a good clean wash, as you can see from my streaky blue sky. and also, messed up the reflection. but hey, good experiment.
im gonna work on my anatomy studies soon, cos i realise i cant even draw a proper figure, not even a hand, or feet, or head.

im gonna upload some old works from the past months.
i call em OLD cos after these, im gonna be serious in what im doing. to actually study, and learn, art.

OLD
u gonna see alot of environments cos during then, i thought environments u could have the excuse of being quite abstract.
now looking at these, i think they look equally bad as my humans

these, though OLD, are posted according to when i did em. so these are the lastest ones. i think i sort of improved abit? i think every piece a person paints, he is bound to improve by a small amount? i dont know. maybe the newer ones look worse to you.

NEW
ok im REBORN-ED
here onwards, today onwards, ill work to improve my art.
here is a work in progress i started an hour ago.
first one just messing around and i thought i could work on this
came about the idea of a half-bodied floating sort of dead thing-person-funny pointed hat-thing.
ive only just started practicing my anatomy, the arms to be specific, so forgive the incorrectness.
i figure if i try to paint something everyday, not just studying the human anatomy, it can help my brain to be a lil more creative.
cos studying all the time just isnt too fun.

ok spent another hour, here is the finished sketch.
it is in no means Finished, but i wanna move on, so im leaving it like this.
it sucks like shampoo in the lungs cos when i look at the previous post, the work in progress, i actually thought THAT looks better than this.
i get this alot, always during the start, i thought the finished product would look cool. when im finally done, it isnt. and thats more depressing than chopping your limbs off with a tooth brush.

20 minute sketch before i go to bed.2am and i got work early tomorrow.
wasnt feeling too good bout the earlier sketch i did, and i wanted to end the day with something that was slightly more productive, so this one is sort of an anatomy study. sort of.

yeah i notice some change in my style, or rather the content of my works.
all i wanna do now is to really really understand anatomy to the point where i can create works of characters with poses that actually can look Normal.
now its all weird and ish.
finally got some time today to do some quick sketch.
this one is an hour trying to study the torso, after doing some bridgeman studies.
im still far from understanding the anatomy of the torso, so im going to study more tonight.

another study of muscles from my mind. the anatomy, i still cant figure it out and get it correct.
i mean, i can only remember the placement of muscles if its in that normal pose.
when i try reposing it in my mind, i cant visualize how the muscles twist and flex.
im still in the midst of studying the torso, so forgive the incorrectness.

Anatomy updates look good. I know what you mean about the twisting, I have the same problem, that and how things look from different angles and foreshortening. I suppose the best bet is to find some photo reference of the pose youre looking for.

I don't know if this will help if you're having trouble visualizing, but I'll typically stand up and go look in a mirror and do the pose I'm drawing if I'm really blanking. I think you will develop the skill to move the body in your mind eventually. I remember hearing somewhere that artists were very good at solving logic puzzles and stuff because they can visualize and manipulate objects in their mind. It's just something that will become more natural... you'll just have to trust me--I know my stuff isn't the best, but I don't use any anatomy reference for my characters (I know I should).
