Your icon has always scared me, and I wanted to see what was in the mind of the icon :D. Nice job on everything! You really seem to have a feel for both male and female faces. You may want to look into the bone structure of the face though, some of the bone structures in the faces seems a little odd, or maybe its just me. I really like some of the work you have done, it is really great!
The hands you are doing are also very cool! You have a nice approach to them. I too have been working on hands, but have never been able to capture the fluidness (couldn't think of anything else) of the hand.
I really like your work here, especially the masculine minotaur! rawrrr. I hope to see more from you :D.

hey, wow thanks for the kind words.
mos667 - i agree, some of the bone structure is kinda fruity. i need to work more on that. the face is a hard thing to do since there is so much expression there. glad to hear that you enjoy my drawings. thanks
endregan - thanks man. you know you and mindcandyman are some pretty big inspiration for my, watching you guys draw ever day, pushing to get better. wow man that fantastic. keep it up and thanks.
take care

just a little bit more progress. i'm drawing everyday now! whoo-hoo. i'm really trying to get the hand of the facial features and such, studying value and trying to see how that works before i really get into painting hardcore. most of these pics are just what i mentiond. pluse you'll notice a couple frazetta refrences and some more Wyeth. take care and enjoy.

this is hard trying to keep up to date postings... i draw everyday, but take forever posting. forgive... here's a couple new quickies i did. for some reason pirates, vikings and cowboys have become an obsession.

Nice sketches Capt.Harlock, I think you're progressing and your linework seems more confident. Keep on it!
PS: Your images are very uncompressed, I think you could compress them a bit more with similar quality, most of them are 100k+.

thanks roger. i fixed the image compressions so hopefully it works better. i'm still drawing, just too lazy to scan and upload. checked out your skecthbook finally today... nice stuff going on in there, i'll have to frequent your book more often. thanks for the heads up on the image sizes.

here is some stuff i've been sketching. i'm taking little baby steps, one thing at a time. i've noticed that i've not done many "finished" sketches along the lines of metalwinds, targete, lukias, lung bug marko, etc etc.... slowly i feel like the human body is becoming a little easier to understand. i'm getting more confident and trying to get looser in my work. enjoy! and thanks for looking.

I like the relentless energy in your sketches, use that energy to push on also throw in a few life studies as well or refrence drawings. I will keep an eye out on your thread as I love to see an artist's progress.

ok, an update finally. getting ready for my thunderdome battle. i did these watercolour/gouche sketches after i was inspired by olsen. when going to war, you must learn to think like your enemy in order to defeat him. some where inspired by jsweet as well, i'm sure you can tell which ones. enjoy

thanks swift. i don't feel worthy to have a 5 star thread.... i still have much to learn and still a long way to go on my journey. i really enjoyed doing those silouettes, they were fun and i have olsen to thank for inspiring me to do them.

It feels great that I inspired you to make those gouche silhouettes, i'm not used to that kinda stuff at all. Thanks.
But, remember, that this is the cold war, and you are not the only one that is studying your opponent. :alien1:
Honestly, it tears me apart not knowing what medium you will use for the contest.

the first page 3 posts ago has an excellent boldness due to its cleanliness. I like it. Like targete said a good 70% scream some form of emotion or energy.. i really did feel it too. Keep progressing im enjoying it. - piece - chudds
