Thought I'd post a few things as I am getting involved in sketching again. Here are a couple new things. The second one is my first speed painting type deal, I stumbled upon Carlos Cabrerra's vamp tutorial, so this piece was meant as an exercise, to be similar to his but my own.

I saw some very cool samurai sketches today that Gilles Ketting did, it inspired me to do a samurai-like kind of speed painting piece. It wasn't very speedy though, took a couple hours, but it is still loose, not sure about the snow... I really love those snowy landscape scenes in japan, I've been wanting to do one for some time.

btw, the figure is meant to be exaggerated, long spindly arms, dysmorphic anatomy... etc.

This was a totally unexpected outcome, I rather like it.

Hey Man! Very proud to see that I inspired you to make a very nice speedpainting! Your SB looks very promising and I will certainly keep my eye on it!
I think that you're on the right way but just be subtle when it comes to the use of textures or custom brushes. Sometimes it's better to leave them on a separate layer and reduce the opacity in order for them to not overpower your image. They are often used to bloom the fact that the actual painting is not that good (I sure have used textures for that reason a lot :P).
Keep updating!
Cheers.
