painting software

I was thinking of getting open canvas to start painting bcause at the time i cant afford any of those more exppensive painting softwares.
do you guys think open canvas is a good idea for now???
(keep in mind im 14 and cant work)

You can also get Gimp, which is a photoshop replacement, and a good one from what I understand. Give it a try.

At 14, pencils are always an option though.
