Oh. My. God. Such an amazing game, I can't believe it. And it's beautiful, takes a while to load but luckily concept art is awesome too so there's something to look at ;) Anyone else played?
And, sorry if there is a thread about it already but I couldn't find it...

I tried running demo on my computer but I have too old graphics card and it didn't work.
I know the world though beacause I've read many years ago all Sapkowski's books about Witcher (my favourite fantasy novels :) ). From what I've seen the game is very close to the spirit of the Witcher world. Brutal, very mature in many places, with hard moral decisions and all that kind of stuff. Also visually it should have many influences from slavic mythology.
I love the main intro. It was based on one of the first short story about the Geralt written.
If anybody's interested, it's all here:

Well, keep the game for the next graphics card you get cause it's definitely worth it. Luckily we got a new one when Oblivion came out so it's still holding on. :)
Well, I definitely need to get my hands on those novels then, I had no idea about them until the game came out to tell you the truth...

I heard about it from a couple of people, almost by accident. Then I nosed around a little more, and I ended up getting it.
It's absolutely great! I'm currently in chapter III myself, and having a blast, to be honest. I'm really surprised I haven't read more about it where I usually pick game references.... Because this is one where you don't feel that the graphics is more important than the storyline, even though graphics are good. And the mood is good, and all the loadscreens are really nice too. And not to mention the fact that you have to take decisitions that will affect your game, but I really, really like that it's not the same old "good vs bad" kind of decitions.
Haven't heard about the books before either, I have to check them out later, the game looks like the books are worth checking out.
I have to say it's really interesting being a woman playing this game though... :P I like the fact it's a grown up game though... Whores and thieves and bedding women.... Hehe.

Yeah, lol, I have to agree with you on this one. I am a total macho pig in the game, I slept with six women and I am still in chapter one ;)
Unfortunately my playing is currently delayed but hey... I will get home soon :)

Yeap that's the one. :)
I still haven't finished the game myself but I'm to the point where Geralt is outside the city and near that one town.

it's odd how games with blatant nudity like the witcher or god or war never get mentioned in the news. God of war featured amazing amounts of violence and boobs rendered in all their 3d glory and the witcher has some pretty well drawn nude cards received after the player has sex with someone, yet the media always attacks the more innocent games (i.e. mass effect)
