Lets see, good start
Probably one of the best things to start at is anatomy
(You'll probably hear alot about that because its pretty crucial in drawing figures)
Andrew Loomis books are a great place to start

I get a lot of criticisms about my anatomy period haha. Mostly it's because I have a tendency to draw lanky figures that are usually anatomically incorrect. Thanks for the tips on the books and comments!
