Hey peoples! I just signed up for a CA account, so I thought I'd start off by posting in the sketchbook section. I wanted to get a lot more serious with illustration, so I thought I'd need all the help I could get from a good community - one that would tear me apart, but in a good way. :yum:
I'll get more up eventually, but a lot of my stuff isn't up to snuff. Hopefully, what I have to offer isn't totally atrocious. :[

I can see you are already on the right way, using guide-lines for the features of the face. Try to draw from some photos too, blending these guidelines with the 'reality' you'll see how they really apply to most of the human beings, its amazing!
Keep practicing man, you will really get there!

Thanks for the tip :O
Drawing from photos... I never really thought of doing something as practical as that. You'd think I'd have gotten an idea from referencing cartoons in the past. ^_^;;
I think I'll print out a couple of spares and break them down into how I normally outline stuff.

Well I can't compete with the advice already given. So just keep it up and post lots so you can see your progress as well as get more helpful hints. ^_^

Thanks for the comments everyone - my next one will be from a photo. Maybe it'll turn out nicely. :yum:
As for now, have my half-assed version of what I THINK anatomy is like. Tear it up - and please advise on the labeled sections. I need a lot of refinement in this one. If you look closely, I drew this on the back of the first pic.

There are more issues than just his right arm, I recommend studying from an anatomy book and like Carbono said - get photo reference. Also study from life, get someone to pose for you if possible.
Regarding his right arm: keep in mind that the bicep does not bulge when the arm is extended. Also keep in mind that the biceps are not the only muscle you would see when the arm is viewed in that position, we should also see his triceps (below the biceps in this position). Hold your own arm in this position and see for yourself. His shoulder joint is a tad wonky as well.
Good luck and post often.

Thanks for the tips :O
I have a lot of trouble paying attention to the fine points. As for that the last sketch, my own take on it after some referencing is that everything below the neck definitely went straight to hell. Everything else is questionable. D:
I'll definitely get an anatomy book to study soon. Too many manga = ruined sense of proportion and lots of other issues. :[
Hopefully, after I nail all the basics (hopefully I pull that off too), I can settle back into that style without all the niggling issues that stem from it. What do you guys think?
