Kickin off this sketchbook finally.
Hello all! Most of what I draw involves creatures. However, I am working to broaden my skill set and will be searching for help once I've moved. My biggest weaknesses are humans, color, lighting, and just about everything inorganic.
Thanks for dropping by.
Commence unfinished creature sketches!

hey, i'm back!
know what? i think what i find so entrancing about your creatures is that your one of the few people here that can blend enough real anatomy with abstract design. most people have too much of one or the other (me, for example)
yeah, but keep it up! this is gonna be an awesome sb!

As ignominious said, your blending of real world anatomy with fantastic anatomy really gives your creatures a feeling that they could "exist" on this world.
Keep it up man, pretty nice Sketcbook!

your creature design and rendering skill make me hellish
and this drawing (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=270408&stc=1&d=1199240388) reminds me DMC 4 and it's "lock and load" sound track :)
post more.

Hey guys, thanks for coming by last time and for the kind comments, they were much appreciated.
And Hmanafi, I'm going to have to check out that soundtrack now - thanks for the mention!
Without further ado, more sketches. I usually take the time to explain those concepts that are more solid and thought out, but as much of this post and the last have been comprised of random playing I haven't found it completely necessary.
As a general overview for this sketch post: I toyed with some rider/mount concepts, nothing too crazy (the demon goat lost his rider somewhere...), then bounced around with one race and a few critter ideas.
Thanks for looking. :]

Heyas, sorry for the long delay. Just trying to get set up again in a new place.
Been trying some painting, and I'm starting to get the hang of it. I think. There's two of several anatomy studies I've done of my Relk, followed by my interpretation of a friend's character Vidya (she has a sketchbook on here somewhere - she's Turbofanatic, check her out).
And then finally, there's a recent WIP at the bottom. I took it into class with high hopes for a decent critique and came out disappointed, so if anyone has any suggestions or advice on this I'd really appreciate it. Especially on perspective, and that darned turret gun...thing.
As always, thanks for dropping in! :sungod:

Shnikes... cool stuff! :xpld:
I like where your recent WIP is goin'. Wish I could give you some helpful crits, but the only thing I notice is that the phoenix-creature's stance may be a little off, in terms of supporting its weight -- unless it's backing away from the gunner?
Anyway, much spiffiness here... show us more!!! :D

Amazing pencils<3!!!!
Your beautiful shading skill and precise anatomy makes your creature look very convincing. I hate to say that, but your colour work seems a little bit behind your sketches. I would suggest that put more contrast in them, for example, darken guy with the giant gun in foreground of last painting. It's just my personal feeling, you might have a better idea of it though:P.
Your creature design and pencil works are awesome anyway, have some stars from me:D!!

Hey all. Been a long while since I've updated here. Guess I should come back.
Some Lovecraft inspired stuff:

Followed by an itchy, bipedal Relk.

You were so busy trying to get in, you didn't think about what might be trying to get out.

Not much time to do personal work lately, but I managed to lob this out over the end of last week when I should have been sleeping. It's a piece for the Splice contest over on DA. The critter is a boar/hyena/leopard/lemur/owl/beetle cross of some sort. It's a little less abstract then I'd go these days for personal stuff, but I still dig it.

I really love the colours in your latest piece!
The contrast between the white/blue of the background and pink of the beast is really well done.
Great job on achieving those different textures too!
