Hello dear CA.org community :yayca:

Everyone's so awesome here, eeee.

After lurking around this place for a while I finally decided to open up my own sketchbook. I've been uh... really fighting myself over this because I'm very eelf critic, especially around other artists, but since one of my many good purposes for 2008 was to stop worrying so much what other artists will think of my art here I am now, posting.

Despite that I think age and gender should be unrelated to the art I will give some introduction of myself anyway, so just you know who's the one responsible for your bleeding eyes and hurting brains >:D

My name's Ricarda (but Riku is my preferred nickname), I'm 20 years old and from Germany, currently studying glass painting, I'm in the first year.

My art is defined of manga stylized humans, animals, dragons and other critters. I'm not very familar with backgrounds and natural art yet, but I want to get a hang of it too, because I need it for my work in school and later in my job as well, too, and because it's something I really would like to accomplish (act art especially :lifedrawing: ).

I've been into digital art for 3 years now too, because I love the smooth- and shineyness of it (I almost ditched traditional art completely because I... don't really have the money for the great stuff, I've been painting with cheap water colors only for years until I got a tablet). But I've only slowly make progress, because I just started to take art more seriously the last year or so (but now I'm actually making progress)

I'm here to improve and present.

:ae::av::ae::ar::ay: :af::ae::ae::ad::ab::aa::ac::ak: :ai::as: :aa::ap::ap::ar::ae::ac::ai::aa::at::ae::ad::a!:

I will try to update as much as possible. :inject:

First post contains assorted stuff, sketches, speedcolors, designs, some WIPs, all from recently and waiting to be finished or improved.

This stuff is awesome. And I'm awesome because I posted first.

I've always been fond of Tristan's design.

Oh deer, so much for updating a smuch as possible, I'm very sorry dear community, I just don't spend that much time on the internets anymore as I used to do.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the feedback so far!

@Cryoxzonomony: Feel free to get inspired or something. I've skimmed through various anime styles over the years until I develeoped some kind of my own, not using big sparkly cliche eyes because I like the semi realistic look a bit more.

@chocolatejunkie: I will try to finish the first one sometimes, it's still sitting around as WIP unfinished, I got myself a new tablet in the meantime and the pen pressure differs greatly from what I was used to, so I will see if I can finish it once I got used to that new level of sensivity my new tablet offers me.

Alright, here some new WIPs and some finished ones from over the time.

Late sketchbook discovery is late. D:

Liking the last update a lot Riku, especially the armoured creature with rider and that unfinished fifth pic. The way you've painted the fur is lovely, though I have to say I prefer the version without too strong a glow so you can see the details better. I do quite like the glows you've been doing recently, but try not to let them overpower your lineart, since nice clean lines are imho one of your biggest strengths and not to be obscured.

Take care, hope to see more from you on here. :)

Hay everyone :inject:

Update, at last.
I'm sorry, I didn't ditch this sketchbook I just really hadn't anything good to show because my teacher had his thumb on all my life drawing, we just got them back at the end of the year.
I'll probably start picking up figure drawing next year as that's what we'll get, I'm really looking forward to that.

So here are a few made in school, the tree's still unfinished (and I think it'll remain this way), along with some digital stuff I've done in my free time.
I started picking up doing backgrounds and I think I'm getting a hang of it.

Thanks again for all the feedback, it's appreciated and awesome!

Hi Riku, I really like your stuff here.
I love the quallity of your lines, they are very clean and firm. You trace as if you were secure about what you are doing. I think this means the you are allways training yourself and hand.
Well, there is just one point to considere: I believe if you are trying to make a dangerous creature in some of your designs above (specially those with opened mouth), I think that if you did their teeth longer would be even more frightening. That's all. Goog job!

Thanks a lot for the suggestion, I'll try stepping out of the box and try something new onc ein a while :)

Hello there again.

Not much to show this time, though I've summer break I'm really busy with moving, so just 5 (mostly digital ones) here.
One's an attempt at animations. I cheated though, instead of drawing it frame by frame I used the smudge tool.

I'll try making a -real- update next time (whenever that will be)

I'm going to split it up in a few posts, hope that's alright.
It's easier for me to manage.

I might post more later.
All this clicking and moving the mouse pointer around is exhausting with a touchpad
