Sketchbook that is entirely for my studies of animals as well as my own creations. :> Critique Encouraged! :D

These first studies are of dogs. The Greyhounds where all from images and I did most of them under minute. The other dogs are my neighbor's lab hybrids. They where more challenging since people kept walking past their yard and they kept jumping up as I started sketching, so these where done under a minute as well.

The rest are just some creature ideas that I had. I'm going to do more realism studies of the animals that comprise of them, of course. Just wanted to get the ruff ideas down on paper. Still working on making them more unique though.
The kangaroo thing is comprised of raptor, rabbit, and kangaroo anatomy. But I think I'll make him look more reptilian. The bison thing is crossed with a lion and bison, but I'm thinking of putting in some rhino.

Ooooh I love LOVE bison. Not only are they cute and friendly, but they're very fun to sketch. Something about the squished in face and humped back makes them appealing. Anyways, searched some images on google and did some quick 1min sketches. These will be colored actually, just quick speed paints, need to do more of those, and and possibly some prisma colors. Never want to loose your skill in traditional mediums! ;D

I'm also going to start compiling my original ideas and creations here once I find all my good sketches. :>

Finally was able to do a study under 30min. :D I'm going to keep doing more of these and improving. Because I know I can be better.

I think my animals for the next three weeks are going to be dogs and bisons. I'll see how much I improve in that amount of time.

A while back, I remember reading an interesting article on Japanese "furries." Basically animals that dress and act as humans with all the physical attributes of said animal. I decided to do a theme on that and possible make a comic out of it as well. (sketched 3 weeks ago)

Anyways, I chose the Oriental cat because they could easily transits in the elegant Chinese brush art and they had similar anthromorphic features of Orient people. I will try and ink it and use Copic markers, also the canvas is bigger than this,I just cropped it b/c there was nothing but white space.

I need some help with cat paws, not the furry kind, but the skinny, well - short hair breed kinds. :>

I like how your lines flow on your quick sketches...and that shorthaired cat in a kimono really creeps me out cause you sketched it well

Don Bluth is is the real reason why I've always loved mice and rats since I was little. Anyways, I rewatched both American Tail movies on HBO and had to do some quick doodles. Left is Tony and right is a random mouse.

if you look in the second movie you can see him and his wife, Bridget, and their three kids. In two scenes actually. In the cat attack he's straining to push a skate with his family inside. And again when they're picking a house in the West.

Going to get back to realism now. xD

I know I haven't been here in a while. But here are some sketches that should be ok.

Quick doodles under a minute each.

Part of my color theory project. I did use some refs for anatomy but I made the 1st chick and the last one on the bottom on all my own.

Will upload more wips from this project.

I like your work, and how you bring out the lines and angles in your rendering and reduce them to shapes. One thing though - bisons aren't that cute and friendly, they can run after you at 56KM/H and kill more people than bears every year. =)

Thanks. :D

Oh the wild ones are like that I'm sure. But the captive ones I've meet are really friendly. But I know that even they can become pissed.

Of course.

I'll be doing more studies of horses, especially their bones since they're so fun to do.
