I am having some troubles. I am new to drawing...fairly new anyway. After over 10 years of not picking up a pencil I have thrown myself headfirst back into sketching. Like I said, I am fairly new, but I just dont think I am progressing as fast as I should be.

Currently I am having trouble mapping out action lines. I have went so far as to open up a posed picture in painter and then trying to draw a fram over it just to get a feel for framing and action lines but I am not grasping it. I am hoping for some tips, etc.

Any help is appreciated.

I think what you should be concerned about when starting out is to focus on gesture. Gesture tells the action and pose. Check Glenn Vilppu's site out ( www.vilppustudio.com ) Here is a picture of one of his quick sketches that focuses on gesture http://www.vilppustudio.com/wpe23437.gif
