View Full Version : Anyone need a free 6x8 Intuos2 tablet?

I have a much-loved, much-used tablet that I would like to give to someone in need of one. This tablet is an Intuos2 Special Edition (the snazzy clear kind) and comes with the pen only. It has seen a lot of use and has been dropped once which resulted in a small split in the casing where the power cord connects to the tablet but has sustained no substantial damage to the cord. It has worked perfectly and still does, though I can't predict how much life this thing has in it. I'm not saying it's ready to die, only that I have no idea what the future holds :) .
This is not a first come, first serve basis! Ideally I would like this tablet to go to an art student or someone just starting out in the big wide world.
Please send me a PM if you are interested and state your case. This isn't an essay contest or a pity party so just be honest about your situation :) All I ask is that the recipient pays the shipping costs.
I will close the thread once I have found someone.

Thanks Vigil! I'm gonna bump this thread periodically over the next couple of days so that people get a fair chance at this.

I don't need it but I hope it goes to a good home! You're really nice to be doing this.

hmm if i were you id ask friends if they knew anybody that was worthy/needed it but i wouldn't directly ask millions of people who wants it ill assume 5% of them are even truthful about thier situation its still a better gesture giving it to someone who doesnt know its coming so they will appreciate it more
by the way you kick ass

I recently gave away a well-used intuos (one!) to a budding digital artist. It was still in perfect working order, though it will probably need a new overlay. The recipient has little to worry about- these things are immortal.

Oh, don't I wish! Unfortunately I was a dumbass and forgot my stylus for my old tablet back in CA before I left for MA for the Holidays. I have a deadline this week and couldn't wait to have a new stylus shipped to me so I had to reluctantly buy an Intuos3 to fulfill my needs here. I could always put the new tablet up for sale or abuse the store's return policy when I'm done but I figured what the heck, I guess it's time for an early upgrade :)

I don't disagree with you here but at the time I posted this I couldn't think of any of my local friends who might need the tablet, that is, until one chimed in a few hours ago *slaps forehead*. Still, to be fair I am keeping the thread up to see if any more candidates step up. There's always a chance that some douchebag could take advantage of my offer (can't see why though, this ain't a fancy new piece of equipment up for grabs here!), but it's the risk you run I guess. :/ I still want to see this end up in deserving hands is all, I can recall a lot of threads where people ask about upgrading from a Graphire or purchasing a cheap tablet so I thought there would be some honest people in need 'round the boards :D

hello. I am a poor 19 year old nigerian amputee land mine victim. All my limbs except for 2 fingers and a thumb were blown off. Luckily, that is just enough for me to follow my dream of being a digital artist. I would be ever so grateful if you could send me your tablets and your credit card number.
Sincerely,

Hey Steph. I'm not quite as in dire need as someone else might be, but my surface is definately starting to peel on my tablet, making for choppy, chicken scratch brushstrokes. So if you don't find someone who needs it more, feel free to just lug it to Seattle and give it to me there? I'll buy you lunch or something when we're there.
Thanks, pal!!

Kindof surprised noone's stepped up to the plate yet... I'd love to have one of those but I'm far from a starving art student (at least not yet) so I'm not eligible... :D
Great inititative Steph!

Actually I've gotten quite a few PMs! It seems like all of them are in a similar position to varying degrees, so the decision is going to be difficult. Since I have gotten such a response so quickly, I am going to make my decision tomorrow. In the meantime, if you think you're in a position where you are in dire straits for this tablet, please send me a PM!

the song selection list will be made up of nothing but Queen, Iron Maiden, and Electric Light Orchestra. Fair warning.

Silly man, did you honestly think I didn't have the song already picked out? (http://youtube.com/watch?v=tLRQVjFPxaI)

more like I wanted to pretend that it didn't exist. Can we meet in the middle with duets of "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights"?

Alright, I will be making my decision today so the thread is closed. I did get a lot of responses and won't be able to respond to them all individually, so if you don't hear from me it's due to a lack of time, not a lack of luvz. ;)
Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond and to those who offered their kudos! :yayca:
