Okay I'll be the first one on this post :D Egyptian Belly Dancer. 46 minutes. She actually represents how I feel today. Happy! Not bad for a second speed painting ever.

hi, devilbunny suggested i pop in and give this a whirl. DSG is a great idea.
are there any real 'rules?' it seems most here tend to use the computer for their stuff.
also, not quite sure about renderosity's rules on posting images on other sites, so please wander...

Hi, Joe! looks great! :)
My concept's based on the goddess, Sakhmet. She's an Egyptian goddess of destruction with a lioness head and she loves her job....

pretty cool, jen. two things that kinda bother me, though.
1. what's sticking from her back? are those shards mounted TO her? if so, they seem to be on a different plane of perspective than her body. they fade down and to the right, while her body goes down and to the left.
2. the severed head is in the foreground. the blood that's oozing from it is touching the surface in the background.
...she DOES look like she's having a good time.

Obvious I know but when I think of Egypt I think of Anubis and Bast. And devilbunny already did a cool Bast.

Here's my offering for today. Sort of a royal guard type guy.
kind of reverted to some old habits, but Ive never drawn that type of egyptian helmet before, so it balances out.

Mummies Alive was the best show ever made :P Well maybe not the best, but it was a damn good cartoon. Everyone did great work! I so wanted to do a good one, unfortunately it was either this or some pen/ink sketch with NO values whatsoever...I opted to post this. Due to my pen and ink's crappyness I decided to crank out a 10min PS quickie, I want to do another one so badly, but it won't appear here. Maybe in sketches section ;)http://retep.visiblesurface.com/anubisdsg.jpg

Well this weighed in at a solid 2 hours. Got wrapped up in several colour variations, (too much power can be a bad thing) and wasted a lot of time. After I get off this post, I'll probably get sucked right back into the dilema, heh heh.

Nice one Nash!
kbg_fiske, welcome!
Clocktower and ChaosEidolon -- Thanks guys! I really appreciate it :)
Chaos, get the Wacom brand pentool. The others that I've seen don't compare, and the small ones (is it Graphire?) - like the one I have - are just a hunnerd bucks.
Yeah, I really got into this one. I wasn't even thinking I'd be able to get myself to do the DSG today, but I sorta forced myself to do it. Glad I did, certainly.
I actually continued messing around with this for another coupluv hours, but I dunno if I should post here since it kinda went beyond what DSG parameters allow. At least to my thinking.
I'm gonna start a new thread with this, because I think I'd like some input between a couple of the variations. As usual, though, my server is not being as co-operative as I'd like it to be so I can't include a link here yet.:(

oow looks good this time
nash like yours
and hand; kickass
i really wish i have time (or would be able to force myself to) to do this more often.
i was thinking of doing something similar as nash and the backlit yellow post in page one. but i might as well have done a scarab, the bug that pushes the sun.
