Well, just did this for myself for fun. I haven't drawn this character in a while. He's sort of my muse. I had wanted this to keep a sketch quality to it, but I kept working it and mostly lost that. But, I think I am happy with the results.

Here's my color sketch (http://www.spherenoire.com/forumart/nicholas_frost_sketch.jpg) when first starting out. I still like it better, his expression comes across better, but I couldn't figure out how to keep that look in the more finished version.

nice but watch it his faces is a bit too round and the hair doesnt help, he looks a bit too feminin. i thought it was a female at first for sure.

very nice colouring

Well, every single person who does not know this character, without fail, thinks he is a girl first. It's a little distressing that I can never make him look more guy than girl, but he is supposed to be rather pretty and androgynous looking.

I don't mind the androgynity of artworks' subjects. It's nice to see artists not confining themselves to standard models (read "stereotypes").
Anyway, I like the texture in your background. This is Painter, right ? Perhaps he'd profit from some more punched highlights in his eyes for example, unless your sky is really really gray :)
His right scledo-mastoïd muscle seems just a tiny bit over developped on the upper part (near skull) and strangely connected to the clavicule. Enough technicity, the colours you chose are great. I truly love this combination of blue gray and salmon.
Btw, your colour sketch is pretty nice !

Well, long hair comes with the territory...

But also, the neck is too long, the eyebrows looked plucked, the lips are full and rosy, and the chin is a bit pointy.

Are you describing the picture...or Michael Jackson?

:p

I really like it. I don't have any real crits...

Well done. But I like the first sketch better, since it brings out 'his' personality more. The final looks like a girl indeed. Like your sketching, beware when finishing your pieces! Your technique is good, though.

Well that would make him look more androgynous, wouldn't it. :p

Thanks for the responses everyone! I'm glad this is being well received.

egerie - thanks for the detailed critique. I appreciate it.

Feels - you just described him very well. And he's also been accused of resembling Michael Jackson. Something I have to work on, I don't really like that resemblance. :bash:

Thanks you all.
