Hi all,

I use Photoshop 7, on Windows XP. Have been for a long time with no problems. (I really don't want to hear about upgrading to CS, please).

About three days ago when I open an image and attempt a basic task, such as duplicating a layer, resizing the image, etc. Photoshop becomes unresponsive.

Oddly, certain things still work, but most menu items are grayed out, including the "close" button [X] in the upper right hand corner.

All drop down menus continue to function, but ALL CHOICES are grayed out, except on the "Windows" menu from the tool bar, where I can switch from various things like "Navigator" to "Info" and back. It does not respond to mouse clicks on the same open windows if I try.

So, I can not close (unless I do ctrl+alt+delete - the Task Manager, incidentally, says that Photoshop is running normally - not unresponsive) and I can not edit or modify the image in anyway once this happens.

I have completely removed Photoshop and reinstalled it, but the problem persists.

I'm rather at the end of my rope here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
~Oreg.

Have you tried system restore?

I'm wildly guessing it's a driver issue.

Thanks Flip - no luck. :\

I just discovered it does all of the above when I try to create a new canvas as well.
