I wasn't too terribly impressed by the first one, but this looks really cool. I was reminded very much of Pan's Labyrinth in a few spots.

Yeah, the first Hellboy was just ok for me, but for some reason Pan's Labyrinth was way way better. I hope this 2nd movie becomes much better.

the one thing that i notice is that some of the creature, though cool looking design wise, look rather fake. its the creature names wink, the big blue thing that shows up at about 45 seconds in, looks like foam and latex to me. now i dont need every creature to be the coolest looking thing out there, but at leart make it look like its real, not foam and latex on a guy.

despite that i cant wait. some of those scenes look incredible.

for some reason the prince guy (blonde haired bad guy) reminds on of tom cruise as lestat in interview with a vampire....

Um, much of the effects aren't really finalized because it's a teaser. So a LOT is probably still unfinished - they're still in post-production.

looks very good...seems like del toro has brought some visual cues from Pan to this one = awesome.

didn't really like the first one, but i suspect i'll like this one better now that i'm more used to see this charcters in 3D.

Speaking of concept art - I've been watching the Blade Runner: 4-disc collectors edition - heh, "watching" more like scouring through it ALL. (should mention this was a gift from my SO for my birthday!)

Just this morning began finally watching the one disc that contains the 2007 version. BTW, it's gorgeous and Ridley Scott's commentary is filled with technical and trivia goodness. There's also two other commentaries - one with Syd Mead even.

I guess I should start a thread on this? It's REALLY worth it - but the 5-disc has one disc containing fifth version of the film with alternate opening and ending scenes and overall, never before (until now) seen. Wonder if it's worth the $60 asking price?

the visuals are really spectacular, just like the action scenes.Obviously its not HELLBOY (read the comics, who needs a movie) but it will be entertaining me thinks...never heard of that amazing screwhead thing, and it looks GREAT.
I need it.

Damn i'm such a hellboy fanboy :(

ciao

:O you haven't read the Amazing Screw On Head comic? dude, get it - imo it ranks with the -best- HB stories!

It seems like he's learned his lesson. He's going to bring some of that magic from Pan and use it on Hellboy.

i agree about the first one being just ok... i think the characters, or at least the villains, could have been fleshed out more, but the Ogdru Jahad were cool as hell, though i wished they had some more time on screen.

That creature with the eyes on its wing was definitely very cool. It looks to me that this movie will just be an excuse to pack as much fantastic elements and action as they can which is perfectly fine by me. Guillermo del Toro an amazing graphic visionary but I'd probably consider him a mediocre story teller in terms of overall narrative. For instance I thought the idea of making the BPRD a top-secret organization and introducing agent Myers was pretty cliched and responding more to cues from 'Men in Black' than the source material.

This looks wonderful. I can't wait to see Mignola's characters come to life again. I hope they will take the time to focus on the characters in this film as well. Selma Blair looks seriously bad ass & saucy as well.
