I try to capture photo-quality rendering, but it's a lot looser than, say, Neville Page. It's also less whacky and cartoony than he tends to be in his sketches. I value texture. I've been told I do a good job with the human face, the female form, and characters in general.

Environments will likely always haunt me for my lack of talent concerning them. I guess I'm not a big picture kinda guy...

Not sure how much of a picture this gives you, but, at this point, I don't have a lot of work of the quality I'm attempting to use in this planned creative piece. I wish I could give you more right now, but the pictures I've drawn most recently are under an NDA from a Liverpool, Britain-based game company. Just imagine the most epic version of whatever it is you vote for and I'll hope I come somewhere close to that!

I need pictures. Even if they're just thumbnails. You can always take some awesome idea and make a shitty drawing and some real turds of ideas can be pretty cool with the right composition.

Just vote for your favorite. What difference does it make to you whether the picture sucks or not?

Like I said earlier, my most recent work is under an NDA. Besides, shrinking these down and putting them in here might change someone's decision. I guess that's the point, huh? Let me think about it.

Its not just a button click. Its having to play in your psychological sandbox that's the problem. And all your ideas are half-formed verbal ideas. Artistic ideas are not verbal. They are dramatic moments... moments where tensions of conflict are made visible as physical tension in your characters.

You really need to read this: http://www.robolus.com/h.dunn-eveningclassroom.pdf

Artistic ideas are not verbal. They are dramatic moments...

Artistic ideas can be verbal. Hence many famous authors' works. An idea, despite Harvey Dunn's perspective, to which I am rightly impressed, can begin with a series of words. Hence concept art. Art based upon the conceiving of another's suggestions, usually in a verbal or written format.

Maybe you're more old school than me. If so, it makes sense. Your work reflects traditional mediums. I honor and admire you golden artists of the material age, but I don't possess what you possess. Mine is a different lot.

My canvas is on the monitor, my medium: the Wacom, which will soon encompass the entire spectrum of traditional art "feels". From airbrush work to oil paint and beyond... with a single pen, I possess a miracle of modern science that can compete with and in many ways outdo (depending entirely upon the artist, of course) traditional mediums.

You may not be familiar with the one-or-two-sentence written description of a painting's planning, but I know this is the way game designers pass an idea on to their artists, as I have been attending school to obtain just such specialized knowledge.

As for the field, I have very little experience. But I trust my instructors more than I can trust you, despite your steady hand and commited spirit.

I want you to know that I admire your imput and that I have logged away the notes taken from Harvey Dunn for future reference. Maybe in time I'll agree with his methodology, but that will have to come in time. As of now, my opinions in this matter differ in ways.

Regardless of your perspective, thank you for voting and contributing to the sealing of my fate as I attempt to walk the path of the professional artist.

But considering 35% voted for the big breasted elf women, that may not be what people want anyway.

I'm staying tuned on this one, I'm curious which art project wins and what you'll do with it. Who knows, maybe it's gonna be the best piece of art I've ever seen! *shrugs*

I really don't consider myself even two cents richer, honestly. Seems like the stereotypical manly man response. I initiated this thing and I'm sticking to it, blasphemer! ...Just joking, bro. You'll learn to consider my sarcasm, I promise.

I don't know what I should or should not take seriously from you anymore. :)

But I wasn't attempting to be 'manly' or crass. Let me use a metaphor, it's like asking other people to pick today's clothes for you from your wardrobe, I just think an adult should/can make these choices for himself. And regarding art, most would be eager to.

You know what?? Go, MidgardSerpent, go! (not sarcastic)

You are clearly an educated man, exemplifying independence exquisitely. It’s the American way, am I right? I believe in these values wholeheartedly. Regardless, what I’m trying to do is written out in so many words located hereunder.

I'd like to generate some interest in my art and if people get to dictate what I render, especially if I'm remarkably good, I will make people really excited to follow my artwork. Art is show business, in a way. Stan Lee is a great example of this philosophy!

Just trying to jazz things up. Make waves. Shake the system. It keeps things interesting.

Artistic ideas can be verbal. Hence many famous authors' works.

You don't understand what I'm saying. And you don't understand what Dunn is saying. Sure an idea may be verbalized, but the core of the idea should be dramatic. You don't understand drama. Might want to check out Robert McKee's "Story".

I don't possess what you possess. Mine is a different lot.

My canvas is on the monitor, my medium: the Wacom, which will soon encompass the entire spectrum...

Blah blah blah... Shovel full after shovel full. Like I don't have a wacom. Like the Pyle philosophy or Dramatic Conception doesn't apply because you work all digital. More verbal diarrhea.

Regardless of your perspective, thank you for voting...

You know kev is an actual working professional like you are aspiring to be, right...?

As for this thread, I think you should delete your WIP folder, finish all of the ones you have here without getting sidetracked again, and take your pictures one at a time in the future, instead of hiding them away in a folder and starting something else..

Finish them if they're good enough to keep working on, and start something else when you're done

You did write the above question, yes? I told you my answer. And you dismissed it in an insulting fashion.

Maybe if you had put aside the marketing clown mask for two seconds and simply asked "what can I do to make my ideas inherently more dramatic?" a solid "art discussion" would have been struck up that might well have freed you from your current artist's block... as well as freed you from the need to prostrate yourself like so.

I don't know what's the fuss about this poll, I do sometime things like this on another forum and I get pretty much positive results. Well of course I reduce my choices up to 3 or 4 and I go with the firsts who get the attentions, I am not waiting two pages of debates.

In another thought I also voted the fanasy sex thing, because it the only one to me that is not lacking of substance and have like something going on in it. The others, I can say they are good to basket. Not to be blunt, but just so you know the rest are like explorations rather than compositions, and you can happily start new project that will bring you to the next level.

It not the amount of hour spent that make an artwork count. Really. I abandonned artworks that took many days to do only to end up no good when an artwork that required so much less effort ended up like a gem. It part of the job, it part of every serious artists.

Sometime it good to just move on. If you are not inspired, just move on on the next painting, and so on. That way you will found more creativeness to the opposite of trying to do a chore. Like they said, better doing 10 artworks to only get a gem unlike trying to forge a perfect one. Or you can just move on and if later you find inspiration to pursue one of your art... go on.
