Well, for good or bad, I decided today to begin a sketchbook on the site. I never really understood what the benefit of a public sketchbook is, but, here it is. Most of this is stuff that I doodled in a few minutes time, and some will most probably never be fleshed out any further, it is more for practice than anything else. Most of these drawings are purely from my mind, no resource material was used on these.
Thank you, and enjoy. I will post more as I go along.

Thanks Fayt, it takes lots of practice. I have been drawing for literally years, for hours on end. Here is another quick sketch. In case you had not noticed, I like Thor alot................LOL

Being a comic book junkie, I'm digging your SB.
I love the Loki pic, nice pose.
It's strange because you say your a Thor fan, and yet they seem like the weakest ones IMO. Maybe your not as relaxed as when drawing, say generic muscle guy.
Do you have any tonal stuff or more realistic work?

They are very nice clean lines, it'd be great to see some sketchier stuff too!

Hmmm. These are'nt sketchy enough? Anyway, thanks for your time in looking, and your encouragement guys. I'll keep posting more as I have them. I have toned and realistic stuff, however, as this is a sketchbook, I had thought to keep things "sketchy" here..............LOL

Another sketch, about 3 minutes to do. It really does not get much sketchier than this for me.

Hi Ape, thanks for your comment! Welcome to CA!
I bet you'll find the inspiration here is absolutely more than one can imagine. Since you love comic, I think this might be helpful, just dig out from the SB of The Fat Kid:
A reply posted by Skeiff in the SB of The Fat Kid, both their works are amazing...
Hey andrew these are really great man. That fully rendered conte lady is outstanding! I'm not sure if you have ever seen the online Glen Vilppu figure drawing articles. It's like a 13 part article or something on how he draws the figure and the basics. I wasn't able to find a site that had all the links on one page, so i'm just going to post all of the ones I have. Of course, Glen is an animator, so he does deal with a lot of exaggeration, but his articles are so helpful, and he is a master draftsman and teacher.
These are out of order, but you'll know what to do:

Your stuff is very clean. That in itself is an admirable trait.
One thing I noticed is that you avoid feet. I do too....so yeah...do feet haha

Hmmm. I did not think I really avoided feet all that much. Perhaps I do need to draw more of the body, although, many of these are just 2 or 3 minute sketche's, and most of the time drawing the entire body in these sketches is not really needed. Look at the sketche's again, and tell me if I really do avoid feet, if you all think that is the case, then, I will take more time with them. Thank you all for looking and commenting. :)

You seem to have this thing for overly muscular men, try to draw a skinny person ,and someone with an out of shape body , I want to see what you can do.

Good work.
I'm just going to say one thing at the moment because it jumped out at me and I saw it in a few different drawings. It's an anatomical problem.

In his left leg, at the knee, the way the inner line of the thigh comes in at the knee and the inner calve comes out is wrong. Have a close look at some front view shots of human legs and study the way that inner side of the knee is shaped and how the outline runs into the leg following the shape of the tibia.

Hmmmm................The drawing of Loki is of a skinny guy. The drawing of the guard with the dragon on his shield is fat and out of shape.................

Well, most everything posted in this thread so far was drawn in my computer on Painter Classic. That program is my favorite for "sketching" because you can use the different pressures to achieve your lining on the WACOM. The only drawing in this thread that I have done in the "real" world is the drawing of "Thundergod" at the bottom (so far) of the thread. That drawing is actually the 2nd, the first being a light sketch, and measuring 14" X 17". I then take the original sketch and trace it with my darker lines and line weights on premium vellum. Regular tracing paper will do also, however, I like to be able to keep the tracing and the original sketch, and vellum is better for archiving. I then go down to the local Kinko's store, and use thier copy machine to zoom my drawing down so that I can scan it into my computer. This drawing I have not "prettied up" at all yet, however, there is an entire process to go through to clean the lines and darken and clean the background before I begin coloring it. Later on, I will have some color samples of the Thundergod drawing.
I hope this helped you a little.
Also, I have been drawing for a long time, longer than many on this forum have been alive, so I don't really use the sketchy finding lines anymore on most of my drawings. I just draw in transparent shaping technique and use minimal lines. :)
Again, thank you for your looks and comments everyone. I promise to have more posted soon.

Ok. Here is something new I am working on. I may actually put a WIP thread up on this one. I know that I have alot of work to do on this yet before I am ready to do any kind of painting on it. I have not drawn on any details yet. I just wanted to get down the basic shapes, locations, and setting. Then I wanted to do a very basic tonal set. Since the picture is quite large (before I optomized it for the thread), I added some detail pics of the orc and knight.
Thank you for taking a look. :)
BTW, how do I get spaces in between my pictures? They all run together when they are stacked on top of each other.
