Iv been watching everyone here and CG talk for the past few years and i think its time i just started my own Sketchbook and push myself as far as I can go.

really interesting. okay what id recomend is more pen work and paper and just randomly drawing things that you see in the mall or subway. its sorta missing movement and things in action feel that we all like to see in art.

True that. I hope i can get a chance to work on stuff like that sometime soon. Wish i lived in Toronto when Bobby chu's subway sketchgroups were going on, no excuse not to do it myself i guess.
Right now im trying to get faces and hands then anatomy and movement, poses and all that, only thing is it seems like if i dont practice alot once i learn one well ill go on to the next and forget the last thing... so ill work on it'n stuff. Ill post more when i get home.

Anyone have a problem drawing skewed to the upper right and lower left corner? usualy when i try and just mess around and draw fast my drawings end up funkey and skewed like the left eye left shoulder and such will be higher than the right or somthing like that....... pissed me off.. oh and when drawing something big on paper i will draw the head small and the legs way to big as i go down the paper to the bottum.. same thing when i write... oh well....

You are a machine! U churn out sketches like something that churns out aloto of something!

Anyhow id like to suggest that when you are sketching to try using the hard roung brush at 100% opacity with whatever color you choose and set the brush size to pen pressure also. You will end up with alot more lines but u can just erase them out or do what i do instead.

AFter you finish your construction, lower the layers opacity to wear its slightly visible then on a new layer above it, draw over your construction with the details added in. Basically keep doing this process until u end up with a tight line drawing. Check my sketchbook for an idea of what i mean.

Trying to beat sketching into myself and get addicted, so far its going well I just dont want get take a break and go backwards then start over again.
Good idea with the brushes I usualy use a Hard brush with opacity jitter on pen pressure and just use the touch strip on the left set to "[" and "]" for brush size up and down or Just brush size on pen pressure and no Opacity jitter, usualy not both at the same time cause if im sketching i want a dark consistant black( or whatever color) line, but I havent tryd that in a while so maybe i will ;) I just wish I could get the pen brush from Open Canvas into photoshop I really love the balance of pen pressure size and opacity it has.
Iv also been trying to play with tons of custom brushes so now kinda just getting all messy with'em...

MAN, I have been artisticly constipated for like over a week. Iv been reading Andrew Loomis books when im bored and I like them so far.
so tonight i drew for about 20 minnutes on my left hand and it cleared me out pretty well... I will probly do more with my left hand now cause it really made me feel ALOT more relaxed with my right hand and clean out the garbage I was skribbleing out with my right hand as well.

Updates Updates... So iv been working on applying things i have learned over the years so im makeing one of the sketches i love into a 3d model and hopfully a finished awesome picture soon... gonna be a while maybe but heres a few of the first tests and renders.

I really like the monkey and the guy in a suit with all of the blood in the back ground -- my crit on this is mushy paint, your line work is not clean and her head looks small for the body, I think her hair could be rendered better, with more detail, the progress is really good here - also her boobs are not symmetrical the one under the arm looks very low compared - the breast is extremely low.
I hope this helps and I hate the crit section - bunch of bitch comments with no crit most of the time... so write back to my SB and crit away - I need it to!! Having a shit time with my latest and will not go to the section previously mentioned -- I just get in fights.

Just a little practice after looking at Zhanglu's Sketchbook (http://http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=124532)
REALLY like his? stuff so I decided to try and copy one of his a little for the study of things... kinda looks like extra retard baby's compared to his.

Been doing a lot of form stuff just trying to practice the whole FORM of things instead of thinking about just the features of the face I think I just need to understand that the head is a 3 dimensional object THEN find where the features are in relation to that form... so I'm doing some Z brush sketches with this Gnomonology tutorial thingy that freakin rocks.. I wish i could work in hyper speed like the video though :D

I know her boobs kinda look like implants right now haha and her eyes are a little crossed but im just posting at this stage so I can go eat ;) more updates later today though

hey nice stuff you got here, i like your enviros a lot and the space monkey is brilliant, i think you would benefit a lot from more anatomy studies, do some life drawing study loomis and bridgman, also try pushin' your values just a bit more in your paintings to help give more contrast to the image. keep up the good work.

Hey man, i like the color studies and the 3d guy in the 3rd page. Your should start working more with your figure, i mean really studying it, take your time with every study, don't rush them. Get good reference or just draw people from life and practice from there. Try to balance long studies with gestures so you compliment each aspect.

You've got some excellent paintings here. Loving the troll with the fairy, can even see the soft wetness in his eyes. Great use of light.
A lot of your sketches look like you get bored halfway through, especially the black and white ones. Maybe force yourself to work into them more .. just a thought.

That photomanip of the mountain is awesome, looks very apocalyptic.

I'd really like to see this latest one rendered a bit more though. It kind of feels like I'm looking at it without my glasses on, which I guess is forgivable for a quickie though. The colors are really nice, I'm liking the subtle reds/greens/yellows you use.

I agree haha, I just started school in November so I havent posted anything for months really... startin to get into the groove of actualy fallowing through with projects from school, befor this I was in home school so I really never had any self disiplin to finish shiet.. so school is really helping me out... once I have time Ill post some good stuff I hope. Thanks though I agree, I like 3D and sculpting more but I think a Strong base in 2D painting and drawing would make my sculpting and modeling way better...
