Sasyl's adventures..

Hey,
My name is Dima. I'm 19 years old and I live in Israel, right now I'm serving in the army.

I've been lurking here for more then 3 years, I really enjoy the awesome art around here.. :)
Thanks to Clodioz I decided to come out and post some art!

Anyway, What I like to draw most is sci-fi stuff.. all kinds of spaceshipy goodness. But lurking around conceptart.org taught me to aspire to more then just spaceships, and I would really like to develop my drawing skills as a hobby, and maybe even more. ;)

The one good thing is that I never threw away a drawing that wasn't totally crappy, so I have a drawing history since about the 6th grade, and you can see the transition between all kinds of sci-fi themes and stuff. Maybe when I'll get a scanner I'll scan it all, because right now I'm "scanning" pictures with my digital camera.

I have absolutely no art education, except for several art lessons when I was 9 or something. ;) But I got Loomis of course..

Oh and one more thing - being in the army, I'm home only at weekends, and once in several weeks I have to stay for weekend guard duty, so I try to spend this time the best I can with my friends and family, and the internet too.. So don't expect me to post every week.. But I'll try my best.

Hi! Welcome to CA! im new too, but i think i can give u some advice.

The first thing is to practice alot. i can see how much u improved within 2 years. i really like your renderings of the eyes. and your hands are quite good too.

Second is your shading. it needs work, especially on the hands. trust me it
helps bring them to life.

Finally draw from life. everybody says it, hardly anybody does it. trust me it helps a lot.

I know about the practicing bit, I never had as much time as I want.. and of course the laziness. :)
What exactly do you mean about the shading?

I'll search the forums for shading tutorials..

i mostly meant making the shading smoother. if you have some tortillions that would help greatly. their just paper shading stumps. here's a pic...

Oh, I've seen these at the store, I'll get one as soon as I pass near an art store..
Anyway, sorry, but nothing new for now.. I practiced a bit in the army, but I left everything there.
but I'm working on new stuff now! really! :)
