I like the guy with the gasmask and the axe in your first post - would love to see you sit down in front of that sketch and really make it sing.
The figure work is good too - you have a good sense of anatomy and the weight of the human figure. The contra pasto (spelling? one leg bearing all the weight) poses are great.
Best of luck in college. :) Keep up the good work...

Med- Nice of you to stop by, you should start your sketchbook soon, and then we'll see who has the nice sketches.
More sketches. Been following some exercises that Idiomatic stated in his sketchbook. The one with the guns shown here is from this morning when I woke up and drew from reference for about a 1/2 hr. Its really nice for a warmup.

nice stuff man i like your characters. your digis need a little work. i would suggest using some harder brushes on them so they don't get that washed out blurred look you get from using soft brushes. also try pushing your darks/lights a bit more to bring out more contrast in the image. keep at it.

wow you got some bad ass sketches :P btw you said something about values what excactly did you mean ?? got any examples
Envisor
February 16th, 2008, 09:07 PM
Jorge Gecov- Thx for the boost.
thesadpencil- Thx for the crits, Ive noticed that as well.
lilnebo- Thx. About the values, figure out where you want your main light source to be and on your character, the side the light is shining on will be lighter and the opposite side will be darker. Its easier to see the values if you go ahead and place those darks in first, and then you can place in the lights, then work in some colors and so on and so forth. If you still dont understand, just say so, and Ill try and post some examples soon.
Couple more pages from my sketchbook...

I love that guy sitting down with his legs outstretched. It's great to see some 3D-ness showing through because some of your paintings look flat. Take, for example, the girl in the blue underpants-- the 2nd try has way more volume. Niceeee.

Wow! What happened? I haven't visited your page in ages (sorry) and you've improved by leaps and bounds. Your line is more confident and your characters have better sense of movement and poses! You are truly an inspiration. You've worked hard on your technique and it has paid off immensely. Very nice digitals on page 1, keep working at that tablet. Very nice to see such great improvement. Sorry I haven't visited in so long. Keep on churning these out!

Your stuff is okay. You seem to be holding back a lot though in your sketchbook to be honest, and I feel like you could push it further a little more with detail. The same goes for your digital work, but you seem to grasp anatomy well so kudos. You just need to give your subjects more form.

Wow, looks like your rendering ability is coming along nicely. I feel that the color studies are helping you quite a bit.
As a suggestion, try taking your character designs into the realm of color to push your abilities.

Hey man thanks for the view, I don't think we've run into one another yet. I haven't met very many freshman this year. How's your year going? Which class/professor do you think you got the most out of? My year went pretty well, I had a really rough first semester both in and outside of class. But I think its leveled out a bit now. Good to see you guys on here posting, you all have a lot of talent
