lovit
makes me want to model something relativily simple in shape, but go all out with maps and specular levels.
I like.:)

very nice man. it has a wonderful feel to it.

C&C:

render on a more neutral background, the white hurts my eyes, and modulates the model.
the underneath is starting to look like stone (might be what you were going for)
the spots on the top, i think would look better if they didnt fade off, but stayed fully opaque, and just got smaller and more sparse. The fading just yells "opacity" and doesnt feel natural.
Not really sure how those fins are hooking up. it may be the angle, but I think they should be thicker where they attach, and there should be some kind of strong muscle connecting the two together (for pulling them together)

its really got some great stuff going on!! keep it up

Hey poop.. thanks for the crits.

the stony look.. no.. im not going for that. I think i need to fix my coloring and the skin bunching.

Spots.. your damn right.. ill have to fix that

And the fins. well. i agree and i dont. hear this and tell me what ya think. The fins a re mostly used for direction. the belly is going to be somewhat transparent and will hold air. ther is a little noby thing at its but that is hard to see in that pic cus i havent textured it yet.. but there is two of them one on each side that will be used to expelling air for propulsion.

well.. thats my though on it anyway.
keep the crits comin.

ok, thats cool, it just doesnt feel "real world" like the rest of it. Maybe just thicken up their connection to the body a little to allude to some muscles perhaps?

much better on the render, underneath no longer looks like stone, and the spots up top look much better IMNSHO (in my not so humble opinion) maybe make some wrinkiles around the fins where they go in, check out sea turtle ref for what I am talking about. Man, this is gonna turn out nice, I can tell.

you need to make a tutorial for how you made this. I assume it's nurbs or patch, but your skinning is rad. cant wait to see it animated!!:)

very nice man. I like how you brought the colors back in saturation some, helped to add some more realism. and the fin attachment looks 4.8 million times better INMSHO. cant wait for the translucency!!!
