THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

I'm still getting the DVD on Tuesday though. It has live tracks, interviews, and you can watch the music video in 3d with stereoscopic lenses!

Man, I one day hope to be able to create the imagery that Adam Jones can with his videos with my art work. The concert on the 11th was one of the best live performances I've ever seen! They showed little snippets of the video like the back of the alien looking at the black hole thingy and the skull fetus (which I have on a shirt actually...). I was surprised that they didn't show the music video at the concert like they did with Stinkfist and Schism. I agree Vicarious isn't the best song on 10,000 days (Jambi is IMO) but it's still a good song and because it's played on the radio (so they say :( ) it's there most popular new song.

The meat pipe was cool, and I do miss some of the old brothers quay stop motion aesthetic....that having been said I think thats easily the coolest Tool video yet made. I love seeing the combination of Adam Jones art and concepts with that of Alex Gray. I wonder if Meets Mayer had anything to do with the production?

thanks for the link sease

The new DVD is definitely going on my Christmas list. 10,000 days, I find to have very intentionally different tone from Lateralus and Aenima which is probably why some tool fans were disappointed. The melodies and riffs and even the lyrics which seemed more narrative. I found that it tipped its hat a little more to classic mainstream metal but still retained that distinct Tool ambience and tangential intrumental quality. I guess people either choose to see it as a step backwards or as a resampling of the band's roots.

Well my least favorite is album is Opiate. My favorite is Lateralus and after that AEnima. I Opiate is the only album that I didn't like... it's hard to pick favorites because they just kind of blend together. Some songs I love, some I hate, it's just how it is. With 10,000 Days I love the heavier songs like Jambi, Vicarious, or The Pot but I really don't like Wings of Marie pt 1 & 2. Maybe they sound cool when your stoned but I find them boring hehehe.

I couldn't really pick a favorite...some of my favorite songs are on Laterallus, but then again Undertow was what brought me into the fold, and then Aenima blew my mind. I think Opiate is more interesting as a historical record of the band in its infancy, before alot of the themes they would move on to explore had been crystalized. On common theme though is that every time I get a new tool album I don't like it at first...but after a couple of listens and once I kind of get the new grooves of the songs, its suddenly my fav.

and yeah Jake...pot does help sometimes ;)

Tool has been one of my favorite bands for the last 8 years or so, and still is, but after watching this video, and watching their other videos to compare, this is probably the worst, second only to "Hush". To me, it was very slow, and had rather uninteresting visuals, and didn't seem to relate to the song as far as I could discern. I think that the other videos have a very tactile quality to them, everything was rough and gritty and alive and emotional, but in "Vicarious", everything is flat and still and very much like plastic, except the insect, which was creepy in its own right.

EDIT: Also, "The Pot" would be my choice for a video from this album.

As much I as like the music of Tool, including the last album...I was disappointed by this videoclip...

they kinda start to look all the same...
I mean, i was blown away when i first saw Parabola video or Stinkfist...
but there is no surprise anymore...always the same weird people doing weird stuff..very slowly...
I was expecting more...
