I recently decided it was high time I started drawing.

I'm going to try to keep this updated as often as I can, so I'm going to spend a few hours every day drawing / painting :)

So, I guess I'll begin with:

I think the arms are too short and such, if anyone could tell me where I'm going wrong that would be awsome

Hi , and welcome to CA !!
Looks like you did some research on how to construct a proportionate human body. However you would want to draw from real life or reference to get a good idea of how the body actually looks like. It is really hard to construct a believable character without the knowledge of how it should looks in real life.
You need to put something into your head in order to be able to put something out.

This is a nice start, keep drawing and be sure to study from real life or reference :)

btw, I heard that "Drawing on the right side of the brain" is good book for beginner, you might want to check it out.

Thanks :)

I'll check the book out sometime. I was wondering how I should go about using real life references. Should I go about drawing where the bones are on pictures of people etc?

Once I hit around this spot on a picture I usually hit a brick wall and don't know what to do :(

I think you shouldn't do the bones just yet, it would be confusing and hard to develop the drawing further. Instead you should try drawing the reference to look like what you see, look out for proportions and the position of features, etc.
Try not to get stuck with shading, but pay attention to proportion and just line drawing.

If you really get stuck, try to move on to the next drawing. There's no need to get a perfect picture right away, and getting stuck is not fun at all.
